HELLO to anyone/everyone who might still be interested in buying one of my Stainless Steel skid plates. I'm sorry i haven't been monitoring this tread like i used to. I do however do a pretty good job of responding to emails to 22rethan@gmail.com.

I just finished making a batch of skids yesterday and as of the time of this post I believe have at least one of each of the 20 combinations ready to ship. I can't say for sure but this may be the last time I make them, only because the material costs have gone up so much and the free time I have for this 'side venture' seems to have gone down. If you do want to get one before they're gone, send me an email. I don't mind answering questions, but if you can help it, please check this thread first since most everything relating to these skids has been answered somewhere along the line.

Thanks in advance, and Thanks to everyone who has shown interest and enthusiasm for what I honestly believe is one of the best performing and definitely best looking 1st Gen Skid Plate out there!

Mine is being installed possibly today, at shop now. I also have a diff drop and I'm having a new cross member welded on (front bar where stock skid mounted, rusted out) Any heads up on what you had to grind on? Lca....lower control arm? Thanks, they look the best of any skid, hope it fits.

I changed the air freshener to a new one, one time.
I had to grab some spacers to drop the skid down and I ground down where the diff mount to the crossmember(there’s 2 little raised areas that it bolts to to space it) and for some reason my lca was hitting the skid so I had to grind that down. Idk how I’m the only one with this problem lol my truck is straight and no accidents

Ok thanks. I wish I could weld because I know my install is gonna be tricky and might take some patience to get it right. Fingers crossed. I've got an OME lift and a diff drop. Ironically i'm getting a new Cv axle put in as one boot decided to blow. Already did the other side. Stock Cv boots lasted 300k but didn't appreciate the lift, even with diff drop. Truck still needs to settle, as I did the 883 springs and and Dakar leaf pack with AAL. Those skids are not light, quality stuff.

OME lift sholdn't cause any problems. At least it didn't with mine. If the diff drop is a problem, take it off. Lost of guys say they don't help anything anyway.

Taking it off isn’t a good idea either. He’s already having issues with boots from the lift so the diff drop Will help the new ones. Also, if you sell a product that’s works with diff drops, then it should work with diff drops.

It went on fine according to the guy who did it. There was one bolt that needed some grinding which I haven't checked yet. Anyway, since I don't have a winch with my ARB bumper, the cross member wasn't welded on. The skid is on there solid but not being bolted to that missing cross member only provides minimal protection. A real hit would probably damage the radiator. ( I almost installed it like that at the house) I'll have that member welded in another time when I get some sliders. I'll get some pics later, looks great anyway.

Yeah, it bolted up good, just crawled under and had a look. Again, need to weld that bar eventually.

I wonder if that what the diff drop one is supposed to look like because that’s not what mine looks like. Unless they differ from year to year? @22REthan is that what the diff drop skid plate looks like for a 2001?

Possibly, mine is a 98. I know the ARB bumper install was different. We didn't use the crush cans supplied like the later first Gens. I'm no expert but my mechanic is an ex Toyota master mechanic and has a sick lifted old 4runner. He let me hang out during the bumper and lift installs. It took all of us to figure out that bumper which in the end was beyond easier than we were making it. If you want some better picks of the diff drop area let me know. I wasn't there for this install due to covid stuff. I just got back from Japan and I'm doing a 14 day quarantine. I just dropped it off and picked it up.
