Figured it out. A few things went wrong and sent me on quite the wiring adventure. The first was the trailer plug tester I bought was defective and didn’t work. That led me down the wrong path and I probably never needed to mess with the new harness. A volt meter and circuit tester helped solve that problem.

The second problem was the trailer didn’t have a ground at all. I have no idea how it worked before but it did. It had an obvious “ground” when I was inspecting it but turns out that was just some random wire. Stupid on my part for not being more observant but that was a weird one. They just wrapped the white wire tight below the plug and taped over it.

At least I got a volt meter and some truck time out of it...

@BabyTaco You also furthered your education and the rewards of doing it yourself.

I worked with a EE for a few years, really neat guy and smart, a couple of his answers to electrical problems were; there are no electrical problems, all are mechanical and everything in an electrical circuit is a fuse - some more expensive than others. He's the one that told me that gave me the 'it's either a 'short or an open'.

How much trimming was done to fit the 315/75/16 tires?

 Ordering a topper next week (leaning towards the ARE MX) and will be upgrading the rear suspension when I catch wind of a decent sale.

Any thoughts on the BAMF shock relocation with 12” kings for the rear? Not sure on leafs yet. Maybe all pro expedition? I feel like I haven’t looked at truck parts in years...

Bamf kit or Archive is a good option. Total Chaos makes one too and maybe even Camburg.

All pro expos might be a bit much unless you're planning on having the bed loaded up a lot?

and comon man, get a GFC for that single cab  haha actually they are about to drop a topper only option I think..

BAMF has the best price and I have no complaints with other gear I have from them. Total Chaos would be great as it’s bolt on but the $1k price tag is absurd. Any reason to go archive over BAMF?

GFC looks cool but I need windows and you know my thoughts on RTTs. I just need a way to keep gear dry and occasionally have a quick place to sleep when I don’t want to hang the hammock. Also, $$$$$.

I’m thinking AP expos because I really only use the truck for camping/hunting and hauling things these days...mainly fire wood. So it’s generally loaded up when I am using it.

Allpros wouldn't be bad then. Not the best option but best option is something custom. So good place to start then when they die can get something made by Deaver or Alcan.

The archive kit comes fully welded so that's nice. They make great stuff. And if you do it in a way you could run a 14'' if you ever want to do a mini SUA setup..which I kind of doubt is on your mind.

Im also not certain if the BAMF kit is 2.5'' shocks? Surely it is, but I'd check. the Archive is.

So really more about how much work you want to do.

Archive is 3/16 vs 1/4'' of the BAMF. But the archive has a way to brace the towers with a cross bar somehow.

Honestly both are great options. Personally I'd go with Archive but couldn't really tell you why haha

Apparently you have to order a topper in person so they can measure your truck. So I guess I have to wait till next weekend to do that. Decided on the ARE CX classic with windoors (outdoorsman package), fold down front window, liner and double t-locks. I want the extra headroom of the MX but reg cabs look way better with cab hi toppers. As always, looks over function.

Still undecided on the rear suspension. Guess I’ll go clean up the garage and think about it for a bit.

Have you looked at the new GFC topper? Might be worth a look. Not cheap. But probably lighter and the full side access is super nice.

GFC makes the topper camper. But they are now going to release just a topper.

I don't think it launches till next month probably. I don't know much about it.

This photo is NOT their normal camper. It's the topper with their super lite RTT on top.

    Same with this one(same truck)

 $6500 base price and back ordered until Oct 2021. Nah, not for me.

Cool design but I really need windows on the side. That’s my only complaint with the soft topper. I just don’t see an obvious benefit over a simple camper shell.

Lol no that's the camper. I believe the topper is supposed to be around 3500. So...still expensive. But be super nice. The side access is the best. Way way better than any windoor. And it's light.

    But yeah whatever haha
