Old man emu leaf packs

I just currently had Old Man EMU leaf packs installed on my 2003 Toyota Tacoma sr5 4x4. I’ve been told that they were installed incorrectly cause the (+) was on passenger side and the (0) was on drivers side. Are they installed incorrectly?

 

This. However if measurements are equal on both sides then you are fine

 

Yeah. I measured to the fender and it’s equal.

 

The drivers side does read a 1/4” lower though. Do you recommend I change them?

 

Personally I would. That would eat at me like cancer.

 

I wouldn’t. Both of mine are + leafs

 

As mentioned, + is supposed to be on the driver side due to the added weight however, the leaf pack is supposed to be side specific (noted by the letters at the end).

I went ahead and ignored the + and o and instead put them on their respective side; can't tell if I have lean.

If it bothers you, switch them out. Easy job.

 

I was told,"CS046RA is for the rear left, CS046RB is for the rear right."


It can be seen that CS046A has a bit more arch.

 

My Tacoma is a 2003. There’s no more than a 1/4” lean on the drivers side. I do have the (+) on the passenger side. Maybe I’m good.

 

To my knowledge +, 0, and - are OME quality control marks. + is a bit stiffer or taller than specified, 0 would be right on, and - is a bit low, but all within acceptable ranges.

The springs are still side specific. For example the “A” or drivers side, with a - should still be on the drivers side even if the passenger is +.

if your truck has a tiny lean, move your gear to the passenger side of the bed. Also make sure you measure on a totally level area. My driveway creates a lean just because the driver side is downhill a tiny bit. On a level surface it’s closer. I don’t care if it’s perfect

Look at the part numbers, not the + or -

 

+ = slightly over spec
- = slightly under spec
0 = spec

Neither + or - is enough out of spec to be considered unusable, driver/passenger can carry any of these indicators, however it is typical for a + to be used for drivers side to help with lean.

The indicator of which side the pack goes is going to be either an A or a B at the end of the part number.

A= driver
B= passenger

 

What is the appropriate bushing for these springs?

 

SB88 if you're using the greasable shackles, and the SB89 if you're reusing the stock shackles.

 

It would be great if OME replaced the O an + with arrows pointing left and right in addition to the arrows pointing forward.

Is it just me or does this seam kinda obvious?
