Colorado yes, IDK about the gladiator. I get a rash if I even think about FCA.

Edit: Looks like 2021 Gladiators will get an ecodiesel option. I'd hard pass on that. The FCA diesels are no cummins and some dodges are starting to show problems with them.

Hmmm... thats a lot of cheddar to shell out. If you have it in the budget it doesnt hurt, but free cash flow is always nice if someone crash tests the truck, etc. *knocks on wood*

I dunno how good the diesel will be, but everything else on the gladiator is fantastic.

My fear of jeep maintenance is keeping me away, but I'm really pondering one. removable doors, roof, and fold down windshield on the Mojave are intriguing.

It's a modern vehicle, and has all the issues and potential issues you'd expect. but everything you mentioned, a much more up to date interior that the taco, and a real back seat make it a pretty easy move. It's also got a huge aftermarket, so you can whatever parts you need for upgrades very very easily.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Except their plastic oil filter housing. And auto trans that's basically a Russian roulette of if you got a good one. Lol

Talked to a buddy that works for a local dealership. What they want for a Rubicon is laughable. If I'm paying 50Gs for a vehicle, I'm getting in an Army Green T4R Pro. The Gladiator does have a lot of modern niceties I sorta wish my Tacoma had, but I honestly don't have any complaints on my 2nd gen other than the screen visibility in the harsh Utah sun.

2nd gen Taco vs Gladiator isn't really a fair competition though, and I own both. In no small part because 7 years ago the price difference between Jeep and Taco was substantial, and the technical difference didn't justify the cost.

Now, the cost difference is down; and the 3rd gen Taco is overpriced for what it is.

The rubicon is definitely overpriced; lockers and swaybar disconnect, slightly upgraded springs... All easy to add aftermarket.

The oil filter is apparently the way of the future? I'm not sure why though.

I guess I got lucky? And so did all my friends? It's a great driving trans, although if it goes wrong I expect it to go very, very wrong.

They also did a lot of little things right; real axles, shocks are double eyelet style so you can use off-the-shelf aftermarket shocks, gear ratios and fender clearance for bigger tires, etc.

    Christ is that thing ugly.

I would be cursious though, to see the difference between a modern hilux and an old school one. Hopefully it's not like the difference between the t100/first gen and the 2nd/3rd, where they took a great vehicle and made a bloated monster of it without re-engineering everything for the increase in size/weight.

Looks a little like a manly Ridgeline to me :notsure:

Edges are too soft for my style. Too European looking. I could overlook all that for more capability though.

I totally agree on the 3rd gen pricing. A buddy asked me for help looking for a new one, and I actually thought the dealership was kidding when I heard the MSRP.

Re: Rubicon, just like a TRD Pro, it's all show, little substance and we could easily build a similar one for cheaper from a mid-range model, esp with the current FCA incentives.

I went with the Overland edition for exactly this reason. I'd have done a Sport S but I wanted leather, and they gave me the same price for the Overland as I would have paid for the Sport S. Worst case is 2 grand in lockers, and a 300$ air compressor. The rubicon high flair fenders are nice, but a) available in the BST thread and b) just get aftermarket fenders like every other built jeep.

Is a glass inline fuse the same as a standard inline fuse?

It accomplishes the same thing just in a different style as far as I'm aware.

I did see a gladiator on bead locked 40s at flagpole last weekend. I didn't have time to stop and talk as I was assessing my bed damage. It looked pretty sweet.
