Help with open port on back of stock stereo

Hello everyone.

I have a 2012 Tacoma with a stock, non Bose system. I do have the Aux input, but I wanted to upgrade to include the USB plug as well. I just purchased a 2TPAM mount and figured, as I was pulling the radio out anyway, I would try to upgrade to this.

I have attached a photo of the back of the stock unit. I did try searching for Toyota Part 86120-04250 and Delphi Part 38318692, but could only find units for sale. Here is a photo of the back of the head unit and a link to the part I was thinking of getting from Amazon.

Your Stock headunit isn't set up to accept USB.

 

Is your unit Bluetooth? If so don’t bother with it and tie in a port elsewhere. If no then buy a new head unit, fairly inexpensive, with one built into it and Bluetooth

 

Thanks. I was just trying to find a way to live with my current stereo a little while longer.

I am still curious what that port could be for.

 

Where does your aux input plug into?

On the 2013, that port appears to service the aux input and USB.

 

I have the stereo port on my dash, that always cuts out on me. I did not see a separate line for that so I guessed it was part of the main harness into the stereo.

I do not know if the port labeled USB in your photo is the same as mine as it looks like there are 10 wires going in to that plug, and the port in my stereo looks like it is only for five port plug, but i could be wrong. If I could find the Toyota part number for the pigtail, I could probably figure it out
