The hard thing for Cali are the visual inspections, if anything looks off at all you have to have the carb sticker, ex the sc has one as well as the trd 7th so maybe I’d be able to get it past them

Helo everyone. I have a 1996 Tacoma 4wd automatic 3.4 5vz and was thinking to put a supercharger on it. I have been told that I should change the ecu(ecm) to at least a 1997 ecu. Does anyone know if this would require me to change the engine harness too? Or would the original haness work?

every year had different pin outs so I believe you would need another harness or make an adapting harness to change the pins to be correct, also auto trans with/without egr etc to completely match yours would be needed I believe. There may be other issues I am forgetting or do not know about. Anyone else?

I'm looking for the wiring diagrams for the ecu's of a 2000 and a 2002 taco. Can anyone help? Or if anyone has video/ diagram/ photos of a 2000 boomslang that works, would save me.

Literally exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I believe I might be able to figure out what it was supposed to be from the harness and aem instructions

You may have read the wrong utune guide. There a utune for the 6injctor setup and one for the AIC (additional injector controller)

You may need to do nothing at all. Are you pinging? Is you AFR around 12.5 up top? Does enrichment start around 2-3psi?

If you’re good on both of those things i would just leave it with the stock tune.

I just want to follow up and say that the AIC utune guile is misleading and makes it sound more complicated than it really is. Theses a bit about part throttle tuning. Ignore that, it’s outdated because the 7th comes with a built in part throttle enrichment feature that is not programmable.

Yes, it pings 65-75 mph in top gear (automatic trans) while going up a hill. AFR at full throttle is around 11.2, but that is not where the pinging occurs. Enrichment *should* start at 3psi, but I can't confirm this right now.

Update: I just plugged into the URD module and I don’t understand the difference between Map A and Map B, is A timing and B the 7th injector? If that’s the case, it looks like my 7th injector is in fact opening at 3000RPM and 4PSI.

So A is timing and B is fueling.

The fueling is fine where it is. I misspoke. Your AFR is fine especially for a heavy 4x4. don’t add any more fuel.

bump those timing numbers up some in the RPM range where it pings. So I’m the area between ~ 1800-2300 RPM maybe bump it up to 2 degrees. And see how it does. If it still pings add more. Keep ECT power on all the time as well. That may solve your problem as it kicks the torque converter off much quicker with load.

some people like to drive around town with OD off. I don’t like that because it seems to favor the torque converter more adding load and ping.

    EDIT: torque converter not OD.

Add more timing? Reducing timing reduces ping.
