What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

3d Printing a cover with some RAM type mounts, Sits in front of the factory head unit. Printing the one without RAM mounts now (24 hours WTF). Being made from Nylon with the Carbon Fiber dust haha. Will hold a Samsung S6 Lite 1080P tablet. Having way too much fun with this.

I may just drill through the cover and add the RAM mounts after. It slides over the aluminum base I made last week and bolts for the Ram mounts can secure the cover. Just hope it is strong enough.

 

Made my own mountain hatch tailgate insert for a 1/10 of the price. Inspired by fellow members on here.

 

Whats the specs on the material used (type, thickness, etc)? Looks excellent. Would have not know it was diy.

Didn't exactly do anything, but my new URD stage 2 clutch and heavyweight flywheel came in now just need to get these installed along with my Clutchmasters throwout bearing.

Just got a scrap piece of 1/4" HDPE from a local plastics shop. Traced the original panel and started cutting away with a dremel. Used a giant l-square ruler with some clamps to clean up the edges.

Check out this thread. Lots of corporate info regarding this treatment. Until a couple years pass I don't know that anyone will know how effective this is, but it's worth knowing Toyota's position on it.

I think you're right that simply staying after it, with regular cleaning and fluid film treatment is the best bet. No one knew this was an issue until a couple years back so we're ahead of the curve, relatively speaking.

 

What material is that? I’ve been looking over the McMaster-Carr website for something similar, but I can’t decide. Thanks!

I got it from a Toyota dealership that had a page on ebay.

 

I found it on ebay. It came from a Toyota dealership who had a page on ebay. I just searched "tacoma pyrite mica grill". Two styles came up but I like the comb the best.

 

What did you use for the shell? Purchase locally or online? Would love to do something similar with mine, but I’m not spending Mountain Hatch money on it!

Restored my headlights. Looks great except for the condensation on the inside.

Funday Sunday involved removing my RTT, bedrack, and softopper. Followed by installing my Expedition Essentials 2TPAM so I can mount my Icom head unit and a tablet to. Firestone Ride-Rite air bags, Daystar cradles. Finished the day off with a good scrub and hand waxing since I ran out of wash-n-wax. Need to detail the interior and cut some kydex for my Icom head unit mount to keep it protected from UV's.
