Not sure if you figured this out but vcm picks up the x-series wideband as a stock sensor since it’s coming off the canbus stream. Check this video out on how to set it.

At the time I asked that question, I had the wrong AEM part number.. 30-0300 was intended for use with AEMNet CAN, not OBD2 CAN. AEM 30-0334 is the same gauge, but with a different firmware and it works perfectly.

Maybe not just the IPT trans. I was getting pretty bad knock on shifts too but I have the ratiotek kit. Justin corrected it but it was a process. Mostly in the "optimum torque" tables

Thank you sir! Makes sense to hear what you are saying.

The low octane table has more ignition in it in my picture simply because I copied the HO table into the LO table and compared it to the original LO table to see any difference.

Holy knowledge dump sir thanks a bunch! That makes sense as to what is going on and how the fact that the "base" tables are used. Still dont understand why there are two identical table but sounds like there is lots of random junk in the code of these ECU's hahaha. Either way, good to know that altering the base tables will change the lookup and allow me to get KCL values in line for a rpm at different zones.

I also realized this after recently purchasing the 30-0300. I probably could just get the cable and flash the other firmware though? It's all good either way, I would rather just hard wire it though the analog in on the pro link than daisy chaining those silly pass-though connectors. I really wanted to go with the Innovate DLG-1 for dual bank but seems like the MPVI2 expansion hub is still in vaporware status?

Well, I have two of the 30-0300's... Hmm.. some creative work could be done on one of them for it to accept the prolink. Not that I need it at this point but it would still be cool to have and use.

    You wouldn't need anything especially creative, the 30-0300 still has 5V output. Pages 3 & 10: https://www.aemelectronics.com/files/instructions/30-0300.pdf

There is a guy on the HPTuner forum that will flash the 0300 for you so you can log it over CAN. User name dr.mike:
    https://forum.hptuners.com/showthre...AN-integration-W-VCMScanner-Need-beta-testers

You can definitely use the 5v output with the ProLink cable. The reason I wanted to log AFR over CAN is so I can also log my boost and fuel pressure gauges over the ProLink. I've been waiting for their hub forever. I think vaporware is a good description, so far at least.

Ouf that thread but lots of good info. He also says the 30-0300 will work on the CAN input on the pro link too. That would keep the other two 5v free for boost, etc.

Finally received my MPVI2 today, however I'm not seeing Channel A and B, only USB Serial Converter so I'm trying to work through that. I can manually install the drivers and choose HP Tuners CDV, HP Tuners MPVI Channel A, or MPVI Channel B but I understand that I need to be able to see both Channel A and B in device manager for this to work properly....grrr. Any tips?

So now I've been in the truck for 2 hours getting these messages. Unable to detect the vehicles diagnostics protocol and Detect Protocol Failed. I can see the ECU and Host lights flashing so it's trying to communicate. My OBD II reader sees the ECU just fine, as I just cleared codes again. Using the latest software versions and checked all the fuses which are fine....ugh Seen this before? It wont read the ECU with the Detect Protocol Failed message. Since I can connect with Torque I know it's not a bad ECU. :/

In device manager under "Universal Bus Controllers" there should be "USB Serial Converter" do you see that? Did you download the HPTuners MPVI2 drivers or MPVI drivers?

Yup, drivers are good (shows USB serial connector) . Latest software is loaded and latest firmware pushed to device. Internet is good. Key in on position and lights flashing as they should on the MPVI2. I can see my credits and the device info when clicking the ! Button on the software.

Thanks for your post, on a whim I removed the device in device manager and the drivers as well. Plugged back in, ran the CDM21228 setup and BOOM! It worked. Drivers seem to have been the issue after all.

Would you suggest this for someone with a basic stock truck just looking for some improvements in drivability, and more response out of the truck?
