If this has already been posted then forgive me. I’ve seen enough threads about the black overlays, and how guys would prefer the decal flush or find an admirable replacement. I took a chance on these, and surprisingly found out they are genuine OEM matte finish replacements (not overlays). Take note of the letter “A” not being filled in like the overlay, and the “T” is cut correctly like the 3 gen. Anyway, hope this helps.

Best I could do on the pic since they’re already installed.

    @TRok
Are you certain these are indeed OEM and not generic (replica), if that matters? I've been looking for these and all part # descriptions shows that this part is supposed to be chrome.

@Jeff Lange - Can you confirm?

Thanks for this. I’m on my second set of repros. They eventually begin to lose adhesion at the ends. So when this set comes loose I’ll go for these.

Right, unless I’m completely oblivious and using Google wrong, which are both possible, It doesn’t tell me if it’s Chrome or Black.

Your link tells me that Toyota sells these for $46 each and OP got these for $23 for a pair of OEM badges like it states in the title?

There chrome, same part number they put on the side of your truck at the factory. Those posted by OP are fake, though they do occasionally fall off, all Toyota parts have a hologram on the label too.

soo...that was my question. OP states OEM and BLACK badges and post what looks to be OEM packaging, so my question was for him for clarification and for @Jeff Lange to verify. I googled before I posted and have done research and wanted confirmation, and I’m certain other members may find it helpful to differentiate between OEM and “replica”.

maybe folks don’t care, but I do and that’s why I asked because Google didn’t help here.

I picked up a set before, and while I am convinced they are decent enough, I’m also pretty convinced they are knock offs.
Toyota only makes the chrome ones and sells the overlay kit as an option. No reason to make black “Tacoma” badges because the pro model uses the special pro badges instead.
I have not installed mine yet tho, but thinking about it down the line.

That being said, they look good on your truck.

I bought the eBay ones a year ago. Love them and don't really care if they're OEM. They've held up like new.

I posted the EBay link I purchased from directly. The images attached show exactly what I received. Honestly though if they are in fact not OEM, you can’t tell. The quality, and sizing are correct for the 3rd Gen. Hope this helps.

I won’t disagree on the authenticity, as I guess I should have cross referenced the number prior to opening this can of worms. You guys likely know more about decals than I do, but at $22 I’m not going to lose sleep over it. Especially, since it isn’t the overlays that make the OEM decal look somewhat heavy. Just my two cents.

I was gonna do the same thing (tried the overlay but ultimately didn’t like it) but after removing the chrome door badges, I decided I liked it better without the emblem altogether.

Agree, not a fan of the overlays. Nothing wrong with non-OEM, if they look good and hold up that's all that matters.

Mine are plasti-dipped, been on there now a year and a half, still looks as good as the day I sprayed them. $8 for a can and have plenty left over after 5 coats on the doors and the tailgate emblems.
