    @Nicklovin @TXpro4X4 @uhplifted @icetreye @LOLLY @JaCado @Fuerte and whoever else:

I just looked it up and Maple Springs Road is "OPEN" and it loooooks like the entrance to the peak is open as well?

Anyone able to do a simple, but fun dirt trip to the peak? :notsure: I'm busy this weekend and next, but July 4th, maybe??? Assuming it is open still, unless rains or they close it for whatever reason... Anyways, food for thought...

I’ve got a comms question you might be able to answer. I have a hard mounted Midland MXT275 and a few of the Baofeng handhelds. Is there a way to use the privacy channels that Midland uses on a UV-5R or UV-82HP?

All has been canceled for HB
No fireworks, no parade. Nothing this year.

I don't even know if the TNT spots will be around this year

HB I knew about. Idk if my friends might have a small get together or if I’ll go to my grandmas. Usually her neighbors have a bunch of big fireworks
    But then again who knows

The firework stands will be open this year. Thankfully they didn't screw over the youth sports groups that run them. https://www.huntingtonbeachca.gov/fireworks/

There's also some chatter on FB of locals planning to do their own parade of cars (in protest of the city wussing out) from PCH/Goldenwest then up Main.

Good to know. I wouldn't participate in the parade anyway. To much dumb shut going on right now anyway.
I'll pry bbq at home and light fireworks

That I know of, the privacy channels are the same CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch... for all intents and purposes, also known as PL Tones or Private Line Tones).

Good question as I've never tried using PL Tones for Simplex operation?

I don't see why you couldn't? GMRS/FRS radios/systems use "Groups" and such for privacy channel use... that I know of.

In order to make it work, you would just need to find out what CTCSS/PL tone is used for group1, group2, etc.

I'll see what I can do this coming weekend.

One way you can try is set the GMRS to a "privacy channel" and then go through the CTCSS tone frequencies on the Baofeng radios.

Really good question and I can't see why it wouldn't work? I'm interested and will try to look into it this weekend.

Do any of you guys know an engine builder or someone who could do some engine work for me and replace my front timing chain cover seal around OC for a decent price?

Got my LBJ's installed yesterday. Stoked I don't have to have that anxiety about them failing anymore.

I actually had my shop do them. I am slammed at work and headed camping this weekend and wanted it done beforehand. I paid $215 for parts and $250 in labor at the shop, with an oil change, and tire rotation. Not terrible. Truck steering seems much more direct now.

Anybody done the exhaust reroute? I’m looking to flatten out my transfer case skid and need a good shop here in south Orange County. Also seems like no one here works with stainless steel pipe. It’s all aluminized. I called south coast muffler and hitch and Rod’s muffler service and both won’t do stainless but both had reasonable price around $100 for the reroute. Any major issues with going aluminized?
