So i've put my social distancing time to good use. I live in Los Angeles and square footage is a premium here, well after 7 years of renting this house I finally have access to the garage. The landlord put one rule in place, I couldn't through away any belongings, just trash.
My 95 year old landlord is a bit of a hoarder so it was a task... Here's how the garage looked originally

After throwing away all the literal trash I reorganized all her possessions and boxed everything up.

Finally, I'm able to have a shop space that's not outside! So i have began building the shop of my dreams!

I have a long way to go, but i'm beyond stoked to now have some space

She should knock a month or two off your rent.

Maybe her heirs could pitch in another month or so because they won’t have to waste their time cleaning all that up when the time comes.

    Congrats to you! Enjoy

I lived in NYC for a time (got out just in time it seems). I've lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and had different "shop" setups in the apartments. When I lived in Brooklyn, I turned one of the two bedrooms into a shop/storage/workspace. I built most of my rear bumper in this room:

    20190430_185553_CE2D7FF8-15EF-4209-9DA1-D1F7A6845F31.jpg

Now that I live in Maryland, I have a two car garage which is sooooooo much nicer in comparison. Makes you appreciate having space in general. It is also all my domain. I make my girlfriend park on the driveway so I can have room for a shop and a spot to park Tanya (1st gen). I'll have to take a picture of my current shop and post later.

My garage, can never have enough tools. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Only regret I have when I did my garage is the flooring. I wish I just went it epoxy. Was scared of hot tire peel and peel from aggressive tire tread though (work at a dealership, the shop floor is trashed).

I have $10 on them being bulk sized Chemical Guys products of various flavors.

Some wash, maybe clay lube, glass cleaner... CG offers specials and discounts all the time, makes buying less painful if you like the stuff,

As the saying goes, “find a product you like and use it often,”

Yep, it filled up quicker than I thought, so go as big as you can. I never heard of anyone complaining about how big their shop is. ha

    I keep debating 50x100 or 60x100

But with the shortage of supplies it’s not looking like this years the year

Agree. Electrical, wood, and steel are all through the roof right now. I'd wait it out too (at least a year) if it were me...
