Yeah, there was a problem with the way they wrote it up at first but that has since been amended and form 1 is now free and clear. Back when I submitted mine a couple years ago it took a full year to get it back. To get an e-file back in a month would be awesome.

The stamp tax rate has never gone up, I think if you adjust it for inflation it'd be 5-10x more than when it was originally instituted. Gov always gets paid before anyone else.

I am looking for some advice for a red dot sight or scope (not sure which I should be looking at).

This will go on a 10/22 that will be for used for plinking and nothing really long distance, it will need to go on a Weaver rail and would like to keep it below $150.

I went to Planet Optics and there are a lot that work and there are lots of opinions and reviews and it would be easy to pick the highest rated for my budget but would like to get some real world advice.

What sort of range and shooting are you looking to do? Just random plinking at 25 yards or so or trying for groups at 50-100?

First I would pick up a picantiny rail myself and ditch the Weaver unless you have a specific need for it

    For red dots....
Bushnell TRS25 are decent for the cost. You can get them on sale for 50ish if you wait. It's not the best dot or anything but mine have been durable and good enough for plinking

Burris fastfire III is another option but a bit more in price. Designed more for a pistol size wise but it'll work on rifles too. The dot is a bit nicer than the Bushnell. Nice little guy but you are paying for the size of it

I had a vortex strikefire but looks like they are on version two now and it's a bit more expensive. But it was a nice dot. Just a bit bulky compared to everything else.

As for scopes I have a Mueller APV something something like 4-15 on mine. I find the glass to be just fine for the price (around 130)

That at least gives you some ideas

I've used both of these on my Ruger 10/22 and had no issue. Plus they'll both work on larger caliber weapons too.

    Ditto on the picatinny

I will look at swapping rails, I am sure someone makes a rail that will fit it, this will be for plinking 25 yards or so, nothing longer than that and probably out in the woods, maybe at a range but primarily just out plinking near me.

I looked at the Bushnell TRS25, I think Amazon has it for $80 right now and might see if there is a sale around the 4th for that.

I've also got the Bushnell TRS-25 mounted to my 10/22 (using the factory weaver rail) and it's worked well for being a basic inexpensive red dot, would recommend .

A word of warning about OpticsPlanet though, check out the reviews online and don't order from them if you need it anytime soon. They took over a month to ship my supposedly in-stock item awhile back, and I later found out from hundreds of negative reviews online that it's basically how they operate.

some items show up fast and others do not. been a while since I ordered optics for my 300blk but I haven't even built the lower yet so it's ok for now.

I more recently ordered a full set of A-TACS FG camo and didn't take that long to arrive.

Yeah I think I read somewhere that if you got one right when it was enacted it was the equivalent of like $3,000

Vortex Crossfire is bar none the best red dot for the money at that price point.

Where do you guys buy your steel targets from? I'm looking for something portable that I can break down easily and put in the back of my GX. I'm looking to use it for 5.56, .30 cal, 6.5cm from 100yds and out. Probably a 12x12" or smaller for ease of carrying it out far.

I have two kits from shootsteel.com. They’ll probably have a sale for the fourth

Honestly, I’m not sure but I’d be surprised if the holes are different for different 10/22 receivers

I second shootsteel.com. I've got a couple setups from them and each transaction is quick and easy. Sales come around regularly and they don't tend to spam your email if you sign up for the list.

I'll put in a 3rd vote for shootsteel.com as well but I will say it looks like Amazon has been listing a bunch of steel target stuff lately too. I just picked up a set of these brackets a week ago to hang targets from a couple t-posts. I haven't had a chance to try them yet but I like the concept.

Have you guys used the EMT or Rigid conduit stand setups? I'm considering 12" and 10" round gongs on the same stand.
