    Just figured Id say hi.

    Ive been looking at Tacomas for a while and I think Ill be ready to make the leap from my '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee later this year.

    I like to think Im pretty handy as Ive done a lot of the basic repairs on my Jeep.

    Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
    All I can say is after owning 2 Cherokees, a Liberty, and a Grand Cherokee...you may as well put most of your tools away because you won't have to work on a Tacoma nearly as much. My Jeeps were constant maintenance, and I didn't mind because I liked working on them. My Tacoma is oil changes and greasing zerks. 140k and I have yet to replace any worn part other than tires (knocks on wood).

    I tell myself that I enjoy working on my Jeep but I do tire of questionable questionable quality on Jeep aftermarket parts. I bought the Jeep used so I would have extra room for the wife and kids. Now the oldest is out of the house so Im looking for reliable.

    I have a '94 Wrangler that is still going strong, but it has required quite a bit of parts and work over the years, compared to my Tacomas and Tundra, which have needed very little beyond regular maintenance.

    Im a gluton for punishment. My bug was my first car and I was lucky enough to be able to store it at my grandparents house when I was in college. It currently sits in my garage waiting for a full restore.

    Did I mention I have a 140k on the clock and am still on the original brakes? Just checked and they're all about halfway worn. My Liberty's brakes were done every 30k.

    Thanks. While I wouldnt mind a 1st gen I have my eyes on 2nd gen since in general it will be easier to find one with less miles than a 1st gen.
