    In all seriousness, I don't know how difficult it would be to sell this thing as is, and I would have a hard time bringing myself to sell it. I think the most cost effective solution would be to part out all the suspension, diffs, etc and put that towards the SAS.


    Still not quite ready to go down that path yet. We'll see how this rig holds out this year.

    I went with McGeorge for the carrier bearing and my last few OEM parts. It was still $200 for a carrier bearing and new stake nut.

    I thought about trying an aftermarket one, but was reading mixed reports.

    I bought the spicer one. And it showed up in Toyota packaging

    My understanding was that spicer made the 2nd gen driveshafts, but not the 1st gen. Maybe it's the same carrier bearing though? :notsure:

    I tried an after market one and it didn’t last long. 2-3 years. McGeorge is cheaper. I went with that. Thanks guys.

    Yep - hinge broke.

    Unfortunately not an uncommon problem with the first batch. They are sending me a replacement hinge, and eventually coming out here to revamp my camper to current spec. Including replacing the hinges and mounting them in a slightly different way.

    All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    Just picked up up today and installed it. Previous owner replaced the hinges and I will on the list for a retro fit as well.

    Another broken hinge. Plus a broken ebrake cable. Still haven't figured out the cruise control or the high speed vibes. But managed a good weekend camping, catching fish, and riding the bike.

    Sorry to hear about the GFC hinge deal. I read a bit about them while researching a camper and my inbred distrust of plastics and polymers kinda pointed me towards a Drifter. If it isn’t one thing it’s 10, best of luck!
