    I say NO,

    1) one easy way to break into your truck would be through a sun roof.
    2) heavy hail would probably break the glass.
    3) replacement glass might not be so easy to find years from now.
    4) there’s always a chance for water leaks,

Just cut the entire roof and replace with plexi glass and install a roll cage. Like a convertible but for off-road.

I have had several vehicles with OEM sunroofs (including my current '18 TRD Sport) and have never had a leaking or any other problem.
However, have know of several others who have had "after-market" sunroofs and every one leaked at some point.

Sunroofs are over rated, I never use mine. Might be kinda cool in a regular cab though.

I have an OEM one on my truck and I love it. I never have any issues with sun beating down on me through it due to the tint. The additional headroom is nice, and the added "airiness" of the cabin with it is nice. And it's great to just pop open. I personally wouldn't trust an aftermarket one, though.

I have a Factory one in my 4Runner I forget about it because it never worked when I bought it never had the urge to mess with it.

I had visions of having it open and never close

No, I purchased my 2000 Tacoma with an aftermarket sunroof.

    1. No proper drainage because it wasn’t engineered for it
    2. Wind noise from old and cracked gasket
    3. Water leaks
    3. Hard to find replacement parts years from now
    4. Constant sun beating down on you

Extra head room? The factory sun roof on my 96 Tacoma took at least 3" of head room out that truck. My head hit the roof on bumps, less than an inch of clearance. The rest of the Tacoma's I have owned 95.5, 97, and 04 all have 3 to 4" of clearance.

Must be your seating position because where I sit, my head is directly under the glass. A pane of glass is thinner than any combination of sheet metal and headliner, hence why I have more headroom.

Sounds like your mind is already made up and you're just countering any advice given.

So I'm not sure why you're even asking for advice/opinions?

I, along with everyone else, gave you sound advice.

I’m not being a dick. Dial back the sensitivity.

I just pointed out that every bit of advice that was suggesting “no” was quickly countered by you.

So it appears as though you already have your mind set.

Good luck with whatever your decision is.
