Ovtune frustration and failure

Reinstall the reg file. ..

Best i recall, that was sent by email. Pretty sure I've deleted all the emails from ovtune. Do you suppose the computer kept this somewhere?
Shame I can't just update the flash manager with the new version

 

Oh shit!
Never delete OV emails! It may be in your deleted email folder. If you find it, save it to a known destination as well as on a flash drive.

You may need to request another ( new ) .reg file ......

 

Check your downloads folder

 

Keep all OVT files some place. Even the tunes. A thumb drive or a cloud share.

The new version installs in a different location. It was a major update. So, updating the existing version was not possible.

Hopefully you can find the REG file. If not, you will be able to get a new one.

Youre telling me about cloud share and I'm struggling with downloading a tune. Lol.

I've messaged ovtune for another key.

I'm literally "this close" to scraping 2.0. My truck runs, I've driven it this way since January and someone had to revive this old thread lol

 

Cloud shares and drives work just like a thumb drive. If you have gmail or similar, you have some free storage.

Trust me, 2.0 is very much worth the effort. There are a bunch of MT specific features. It's a different animal.

No, I dont play fortnite, but thw only laptop I have access and the one I used to register thw tune was my wife's and her youngest daughter rarely let's it leave her sight. Lol.

My truck ran fine after the Tsb IMO. But I've been following ovtune since his first post but couldn't get it because I don't have a computer. Then the HH unit came up and I ordered Oct-2018. Come to find out I need a computer to download the tune for the HH.
I'm not that good with computers either. After all this time I just tuned my truck last Thursday for the 1st time. I have to say it was worth the frustration and long wait for 2.0. Shifts even better, noticable improvement on low end power and a couple more mpg so far. If I can do this so can you. Just don't rush and it will all come together. Lots of knowledgeable members here who are always willing to help us out.

 

Ok...new FM is installed and old one deleted. Is there anything else before looking for tunes and flashing the truck? I couldn't find any new walk thru videos on ov websight and disnt know if old ones still applied. Any update? Anything? Getting close to go time

If you open FM, no buttons are grayed out? Just checking before go time.


For the MTs, it is the same as before. Download the new tunes in FM and flash it up! 2.0 SFOB is the tits.

It is recommended to Reset the DTCs and Learned Values after you flash, so:

-- Flash
-- Once complete, start the motor briefly to test.
-- Shut the motor off and then turn the ignition back to On, but without the motor running.
-- In FM, hit the DTC Reset and then the Learned Value (LV) Reset.
-- Once done (just a few seconds), start the motor and idle for about 5min while touching nothing.
-- The idle will be a bit rough after that 5min and the first few miles will be a bit wonky, but things will smooth out and be really, really good.​
