Greetings. So I'm told there are some Tacos (mine being one of them, a 2000 PreRunner V6 2WD) that don't have a tranny pan gasket? It's just sealer applied to pan and bolted up. I was about to order a gasket, and I see them for 2WD V6 Taco, but I'm told that mine doesn't have one. Is that possible? Trying to do a VIN number verify, but can't reach anyone by phone. Anyway, thanks for your take.

My 03 V6 uses RTV sealant.
It's pretty easy to use iirc.

The stuff from the factory held up for a good 230k miles on my truck, so I decided to use it for another 200k miles.

Thanks for the input! (oops another pun). One question left: I've heard something about how changing the fluid and filter can cause some kind of seizing or problems?? It was somewhere on this forum. What?? Isn't it time to do a little fluid/filter change if it's been quite a few years? Thx

I've never read such a thing.

Its the "flush" jobs I'd be wary about offered by repair shops. Those may dislodged debris that can get caught up elsewhere and cause issues; that's my theory anyway.

yeah, just do a couple of drain and fills (can even drop the pan like I did and get another 2-3 quarts, almost 7 total for my last one) and you should be fine. I just used the cork or w/e gasket came with the kit I bought when I did it @~163k
