Installed my 6spd FJ Cruiser TRD shift knob!

Not sure, RTV sealed mine up perfectly and it looks super clean. I just taped around the snorkel edge and ran a thick bead and used a glove to smooth it out. Peeled the tape off and had a clean line along the body. Cost me about $4

 

That looks sick. Where did you get it from?

 

I did this. Took new tires through some thick GA clay. Played around on some back roads. Then cleaned her up

 

Thanks, I got it from a toyota dealership. Sparks parts online was their website. It only comes as a set for the FJ though which does cost a pretty penny but I think it's worth it.

Me too. I’ve seen a few YouTube videos about the awning . Did a bunch of research. I wanted a 270 awning that could be freestanding in calm weather, covered more of the back, and preferably didn’t cost $1600 bucks. For less than half, seemed worth a try.

 

Nice, I like the looks of that one over the gray/cement colored TRD one.

Did the Uni filter mod on the Secondary Air Injection Pump. Removed the internal foam filter, and replaced the exterior "large stuff" inlet with the Uni Filter. Details can be found via TW search.

 

Hell yeah! I love the new look and it only took about 20 mins taking my time with the dremel

 

No issues at all. I really like the Bumper! Jerry at BAMF has a great shop and does really great work. My only regret might be not getting it powder coated as painting all the nooks and crannies was a PITA!

 

Ordered new tires yesterday, Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S in 265/75r16, x5.
Went and had them installed this afternoon.

After lots of discussion between the forums and local people here I settled on the AT3 4S because of the capability, great reviews and ratings and weight savings versus an E load. 42 lbs to my then current 40 lbs highways. Not to shabby.

Still looks high, probably could have done 33's!
I did some circles in the parking lot, no rubbing to be found. I took it up over a few inclines and angles to check there too. No rubs.

A couple of my center caps broke so the shop is going to order replacements for me.

Walking back out after everything was all buttoned up I took a closer look at the tread and then I saw it.


That looks like it says LT, because it does say LT. Those are AT3 LT's, not AT3 4S'.
Well nuts.
I went back in and talked to the shop guys again and checked the specs on the LT variation.

"Looks like the wrong ones were ordered" they said.

I'm just going to roll with them. They are C load, still 265/75r16.

48lbs each, one pound savings from the E loads, 8lbs over what I had. So much for all my research.

We'll see how that impacts the mileage, I don't imagine it'll be enough to make me cry or anything.




They look pretty good! Something tells me I'll be hearing more rocks pinging off the undercarriage!

 

Nice, does look solid indeed. How do you have yours attached to the a pillar? I’ve got a .5-.75” gap due to the template being out of wack. Was planning on using industrial Velcro or something similar to attach, I’m not drill holes in the a piller

 

Forgot to mention-successfully plumbed that Dobinsons snorkel to an aFe intake!

 

I had the same gap. I really wish I went with the ARB, I really don’t like this snorkel. Originally I used double sided 3M tape stacked up, but I still had the gap so I ended up drilling the holes in the A pillar and using a ratchet strap to get it in place, sits better now but I still hate the amount of work I’ve had to put in to make it look decent. I was trying to save some money and paid for it by not spending the extra money on the ARB.

 

Is that location (inside the 6-spd shifter zone box thing) where your FJ case's lever ended up on its own, OR did you have to modify the FJ case's lever ? Do you have pictures if the latter? My FJ case is on my bench waiting to get ready and go in....

 

Yes that is the stock j-shifter out of an auto FJ cruiser with just the t-case bolted up to the trans. The shifter took no modifying and it works but it runs in 2wd in 5th and 6th a little bit. I thought about bending the shifter a little near the base, but then when it's in 4low it is very tight and the t-case shifter does get cozy up to the right side of the stock shift console. All in all, it works though. Takes just a little to make it perfect but I'm running it like this for now

 

Got the CMC and pinch weld taken care of in preparation for 285's. @Dcsleeper408 was able to get me into his shop and did a helluva job. Highly recommend him if you're in the bay area.



Also replaced the sway bar end links and threw on the diff breather mod from @Blais03 which was a super easy install.

 

I removed my rear folders and tops for the storage. Did a deep clean on the area and vaccuumed.



Drilled a couple of holes for nutserts and popped a couple of those in to mount my new safe.



Filled it all up and organized the new tool box. Did the "seat mod" and that provided enough space to slide a full socket set under the drivers seat.



Cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit and layed some carpet on with 3M adhesive spray. Overall I am pretty happy with the outcome and glad I didn't pay $800 for the Goose Gear set up.
