    I change oil every 7500 miles and wanted a 2 change filter.

    Great; I bought them after I read in a forum they would fit, but later realized that forum was talking about an older version of the tacoma. I used to use Fran all the time, but this last time I used a purolator and it kept the oil cleaner for much longer. I have always used a slightly bigger filter, but decided to go with the biggest I could find in case I don't have to time to change oil after work.

    Fram Ultra is one of the best filters out there right now.
    They are a long ways from the old "Orange Can Of Death" days.
    A lot better built than the Toyota filter and better filtration also.

    Based on what ? I read a lot on Bob the oil guy - I also watched filters being split open on youtube - I settled on Wix 51348MP and 5,000 OCI. If you want extended OCI they suggest XP with synthetic media and wire backing.

    To each his own. Not a fan of OCOD, but impressed with the Ultra. Used to like PureOne, but the media tears ended that. 99%@20microns is something the stock filters can't touch. Synthetic media and oversized cans aren't an option for extra long OCIs either.

    On my 2012 Tacoma Prerunner I use PL 20195. Purolator One oil filter. I had to remove center brake line clamp with 12mm open end ratchet wrench. Easy peasy. I am so glad I did this.20200614_160100.jpg

    WIX XP has lower filtration efficiency than the standard WIX filter. They can go more miles because they are catching fewer particles. Not a choice I would make, personally.

    Maybe I'm confused. Aren't oversize filters with synthetic media a good choice if you plan to extend the OCI?

    Napa Gold 1348. The black version of the Wix 51348. Drop the '5' off any Wix filter, = Napa Gold.
