Strange I thought I was in the motorcycle thread...

Opinions on the Arai XD-4? Been running a cheap HJC for forever. Want to invest in a good helmet for when I get a dual. $600 ain't nothing to sneeze at but the amount of air flow it provides while still being quiet sounds good to me.

IIRC correctly, Arai has a narrow fit that doesn't always work with every head but IMHO it's the go-to top line popular dual sport/adv helmet if you can afford it. I got an AGV AX-9 on sale a few months back that I've been loving.

Not a true comparison but i have the bell mx9 adv, and bell moto9s. The adv isnt near as comfortable for airflow on hot days and the one time i did wear it for offroad woods i was miserable.

The shields sound nice in theory but they dont let any airflow in the woods and theyll get covered in dust if you raise them which then makes it hard to see on the street again.

Personally id recommend a dirt helmet if youre going offroad/semi-technical (aka anything outside of fire roads). An adv for 99% street use. But thats just me.

The klim krios is another big one as well

That's the thing though, it seems this is the only one that does it right for in the woods. Everyones said the ventilation on this helmet is the best of the best. I'd probably run goggles anyway if I am doing a day in the woods only. I just don't want to be miserable on the 25-30 minute ride to the trails.

Why would you be miserable with a dirt helmet on the ride to the woods? Ear plugs are all it takes to get rid of wind noise.

More wind buffeting concerns than anything else.

Its not that much of an issue. I do 80ish mph on my way to work all highway. Youd get the same effect with an adv helmet too

I’ve driven the normal Xbow before. They are amazing. This would be a dangerous daily driver. My commute might start getting longer and longer every day....
