A slightly different dinner than last night.
Same bacon and corn but with ranch garlic cheesy mashed potatoes and a slightly different rub test on the pork chop!

    IMG_20200709_181938.jpg

BIG bold flavors in these rubs ... Ones that you can see and taste!

The bacon looks sad in this picture but it was cheap bacon to begin with..mostly bought it to season my freshly restored cast iron pan.

The mashed potatoes were seasoned with my Ranch Seasoning mix, extra dehydrated garlic and black pepper before a handful of shredded Colby Jack cheese was mixed in.

The taters and the chop look darn good. I can’t love the sad limp bacon though.

It wasn't even the recipe I intended to make.. had to make do with what I had.

What is your process for pan finishing. I treat my CI like shit and they always work great. When I see the seasoning getting thin I just heat them up really well and wipe them down with some flax seed oil. I keep them hot for ~30 min and they are G2G again.

I have been meaning to strip everything I have completely (about 14 pieces) and start fresh.

Sorry, missed the link on my phone.

Looks about right to me... People treat CI like it's glass. If you use it often enough with enough fat of some kind, even dish soap on a scouring pad won't bother it. Yes, I scrub my pans, no they don't rust. I dry it on the burner every time I wash and about every other time I add some oil to reinforce the seasoning.

I don’t treat ours like glass. Tonight it was dipped in the soapy water, wiped it with sponge, rinsed, dried and then a little oil wiped with paper towel and back into the drawer.
