42 is way to big for the trailer. I would prefer stainless steel or steel ceramic coated.

LOL. Keep talking. I have a crawl box. I wheel the shit out of my rig. Ask anyone who knows me. There is nothing wrong with 5.29s and they aren't "weaker" then 4.88's an far as the ring gear goes. Your spouting off old wives tales. I know because I did the research before I went with them.

My 83 I replaced 5 29s three times my 67fj I did 2 times and back to 4.88 no problems. Stayed with 4.88 in everything else since then. Just my thing I guess.

Or you changed your driving style the the 6th time. I've seen every a lot of different ratios break. Usually when people where romping the shit out of the rig. I've been with buddies when they've blown up 4.10s, 4.56s, and 4.88's. I think the only one I haven;'t personally seen shred is 5.29. It's just bad luck and usually crap driving style.

Before I put in my 5.29's I thought that the gears where "weaker" as well. Then I tried to find any actual testing. Not anecdotal reports like yours and other guys that claim the same thing. I could not find one study to back it up. I called Nitro and they said that they'd never actual tested to failure but might in the future just to see actual numbers.

So why did the myth start? Most guys that wheel in big rocks want the lowest gear set they can get. 5.29s for Yota's and most jeep guys run 5.38. So you have most of the breakages occurring with that gear not because it's weaker but because there's more of them in the field. If I ever shred mine I'll be sure to let everyone know. lol

I dont wheel like I used to. I do however love to drive very fast and hammer the shit out of my truck. Its just the way I drive. One day I'll never grow up and learn to drive

Saw a neighbor on that once and I really thought different of her after that. Strange the way it changes things.

That's really odd. One day, one of my co-workers said he had done porn before. I just looked at him and said "bullshit". He came by my desk later that afternoon with a complimentary copy of his 'work'...in the "never have I ever category", did I watch that.
