over heating and 4-L problem

okay first off my trucks overheating after i changed the coolant, i put in toyota red coolant, 2 gals of it, the radiator and resivour are full, the heater isnt blowing hot, but the water temp is getting up to 125*F

also when i put it in 4L the AT/P light comes on, i just replaced the damn transmission and the old one had the same problem

 

Um, did you mean 225*F?

Maybe you have air in the system?

No idea with the tranny.

 

update...i think it was air...im slowly getting heat back but its still not hot, although the truck now stays at 195*F much better than 225*

also any input for the 4lo problem?

 

There was a thread a while back that discussed the AT/P lite. IIRC the purpose of the light is to tell you the 4WD lever is in Nuetral. Doesn't make sense to me either.

On your rig, it may be a position sensor thing.

thanks! maybe soon i can get my new d-shaft and tires to put it into 4wd

 

exactly what i did. i kept filling the resevoir tank and let it run with out the cap on to bleed out the air

 

I hope I don't screw up by asking this but-did you stick with the 50/50 mix of water and coolant I hope? or did you put straight red coolant?

 

straight coolant, it was pre mixed and said not to add water

 

OK I just wanted to make sure it was mixed.

 

go on an incline and rev your engine.
