10 days ago I started this diet to try and deduce what foods may be causing my psoriasis to flare up. So far I don't think I've seen much of a difference in that. I will say that I feel more motivated, less anxious and less depressed since starting. All of those could simply be attributed to getting rid of sugar. I've ate like crap my hole life, lots of sugar. I'm sure I've lost weight as well but that's not my goal in doing this so I haven't touched a scale.

Breakfast is usually 5 eggs and 3 strips of bacon.

Lunch is ground beef cooked in the bacon fat from the morning. I'll usually cook it in the morning and throw it in a container to warm up for lunch.

Dinner is usually steak or porkchops

    Anyone else try this?

Ive been doing it for years as a strategy to reduce blood sugar and lose weight it works quite well, can be a bit boring. less than 20 grams of carbs a day and basically zero for the first few months. Lost 100 pounds and technically no longer diabetic. You will piss your brains out the first few weeks, it really reduces inflammation, drink a LOT of water. Im rarely hungry and no longer crave sweets. I read a book "why we get fat" by Gary Taubes and it is a good little book with a lot of compelling science and logic about basic nutrition; not self helpy at all that Im ok your ok malarky. The short of it is The government doesn't know shit, The Masai, plains Indians, eskimos and a bunch of other native types people never ate any meaningful amount of grain and few vegetables and were all notorious healthy, until they started eating a "western" diet basically a lot of carbohydrates basically grain and sugar. His book is mostly information and not much advice. His advice is stay off the sugar! and if your fat and or have diabetes then stay off the rest of the carbohydrates too; or starve yourself while eating carbs, like they do in Asia, which most people cant/won't do. I make a green chili and lots of fat and meat, eggs, butter, some veg, bacon sausage, cheese, some nuts, the hard part is eating enough fat compared to protein, but it does work, not really a diet for me, its just how I eat. Some people cant handle it, my wife cant eat the fattty foods much because she has gall bladder problems.

I have not tried strict carnivore yet. I’ve done keto in the past and plan to make that a lifestyle.

Not sure I will ever do carnivore but I’m very interested in learning more about it.

I'm still going strong. I did add cheese back in. Still feel great and my mental health is better than it has been in a long time!

My psoriasis is better but still not completely gone. Thinking of going to only beef for a week and see what happens. I'm thinking the eggs may be the culprit.

I've tried full carnivore, but wasn't a fan of it. I eat 90% animal products (mostly red meat and eggs, occasionally chicken or fish), but I do eat some carbs from white rice or sweet potatoes, and some veggies and some fruit. No bread, pasta, dairy (except butter), sugar, or processed foods. I'm down 60 pounds in the last year and a half with this, and right now, at 44, I'm in the best shape I've been since I was 18.

I got 3 weeks in and had a couple moments where I felt pretty odd and weird. The runs were not fun. Anyhow Im about 88% now. I mix cheese in and will eat a taco or a bun here and there. But Im trying to stay to that 90% deal. Biggest challenge is that DAMN SUGAR! Man its sooo crazy how easily you can fall. I unfortunately had my first soda after about a month, and its kind of slide me off a bit. So I will battle back.

I did a ton of research and I am convinced it can be very beneficial to certain people. What I have learned from the research and many forums of discussions and Doctors from various sides of the field is that the current government regime and narrative is not for our hearth. PERIOD. Cut the garbage and Trust your gut!

Definitely understand the battle with sugar! Ill try and just have one bite of a chocolate bar or ice-cream and before I know it I've ate the whole thing!

Not to get too political in here but I definitely agree with you on the government not caring about our health. With great health pharma doesn't make money. Pharma puts an enormous chunk of change towards lobbying. To add to it, I've still not seen any mention from the government to do what you can to improve your own immune system. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to do in times like these.

    Yes, follow your gut!

Same, I grew up on a midwestern diet of meat and potatoes, any veggies or fruits my mom would give us as kids was usually the canned variety with minimal nutrition to begin with lol. Then of course with salt and butter

Multivitamin supplements are your friend...before I was taking them I had blood work done at my doctor and I knew he was going to tell me to eat more fruit and vegetables. I'm still terrible at it though not as bad as I used to be (my wife is a vegetarian so inevitably I end up eating some of what she makes once in awhile lol). But last time I had my blood work done after a year of taking my multivitamins every day the results were much more normal across the board.

Of course nothing beats healthy eating and getting necessary nutrients through whole foods, but that is a lot easier said than done for many people myself included. My biggest problem is not having patience to cook, I don't eat a lot so I probably look healthier than I really am, but by the time I do eat I'm usually really hungry and want something fast. Trying to change that

Interesting (Multivitamins) Ive never been able to trust all the mis-information about vitamins either....People say they work, and others say they are worthless and dont absorb and such. What brand do you take?

The ones Costco sells, Kirkland brand. Just a daily multivitamin for men. There are some out there I'm sure that don't do as advertised but I try and stick with the more well known brands for that stuff.

So basically just take a multivitamin and I'll be good?

If you're vitamin levels are low it's better than keeping them low if you're not eating right lol.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the answer is simply multivitamins...though I wish it were

I mean I literally eat like 90% meat and 10% everything else (not vegetables or fruit though)

Its been a little over whole year and I believe the mental benefits of this diet are the biggest differences for me. I feel great physically. My psoriasis is still around but it has improved. I suppose some of the seasoning I use could be causing inflation. Occasionally I'll have something sweet but for the most part its been meat and cheese everyday. 2 weeks ago I decided to get a garlic chicken pizza and have a few Coors Banquets and hot damn was that the best tasting shitty beer I've ever had. It came with price though, felt super groggy for a few days following. I am now a firm believer that our diets effect our well being in every aspect, not just physically. If I end up with a heart attack and it kills me so be it, I felt like a million bucks until I left. I really don't see that happening as there is a lot of evidence suggesting meat isn't the factor in clogged arteries.

I decided to try tongue for the first time last night from an elk I killed in the fall. I kept it simple and fried it up in bacon fat and butter and my god was that delicious. I did not have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. My next beef order I will be inquiring about some beef tongues! I also had the heart from that elk and again was pleasantly surprised. I don't understand why society has such a stigma around organ meats. I will say that I was not impressed with the liver. My typical fry in bacon and butter was not a good approach. Still have the oysters to give a try...

I'd encourage anyone to figure out what works best for them, if its eating like a rabbit that makes you feel best, great! I don't think all the processed trash we buy in stores is doing anyone a favor.

    Stuff. Also things.
Glad to hear that carnivore has been a good fit for you, Ryan! And I’m super jealous of all that elk in your freezer!

Your mention of heart reminded me that my pops and I would sauté venison heart back in the day and it was always delicious. A little different consistency given the fact that it’s cardiac muscle, but still super tasty.

I really enjoyed the carnivore diet when I did it for a few months last year. I dropped a lot of weight and felt pretty awesome, especially in terms of mental clarity at the beginning. The only thing I had trouble with was energy and recovery for lifting. Sadly, carbs seem to be pretty key for me if I want to continue to gain strength and keep my lifts moving up. That said, once I’ve exhausted my novice strength gains (in a few more months, most likely), I’ll gradually get back to a ‘mostly’ carnivore way of eating as my baseline diet, with some fruit or honey eaten around my lifting sessions and then beef, eggs, and some occasional cheese as my main foods.
