Saw this while catching up on the news. Might be a good time to sell if you are trying to unload a 3rd gen, just expect finding a new one to be a little more of a challenge.

According to a new report from TrueCar, here are 10 models with demand-to-inventory ratios that might make them tough to get your hands on for a great price – if at all – in the coming weeks.
    1. Kia Telluride
    2. Toyota Tacoma
    3. Hyundai Palisade
    4. Toyota 4Runner
    5. Toyota Tundra
    6. Toyota Sienna
    7. Toyota Rav4
    8. Subaru Crosstrek
    9. Jeep Wrangler
    10. Dodge Challenger

Definitely. We’re looking for a pro and the mark up over MSRP on the ones we want is insane!

Maybe I should make room in the garage for overnight! Has anyone on here heard if they are getting stolen yet?

Toyota's N American production was idled for 2 months. So that stands to reason

Toyota demand was high pre-COVID and they shut down all manufacturing for quite some time.
To my knowledge they're back up and running, just maybe still not at full volume.
I'm sure they see the demand, though, and they're doing whatever they can to 1) keep their people safe and 2) meet demand

This must vary widely by region. I just checked Tacoma inventory for my area and there are 76 available, which is up from when I bought mine at the end of May.

I know that before the shutdown I was looking at buying a used 18 or 19, but I decided on going new because I could no longer find one with options that I wanted. It was initially supposed to take 45 days to receive the truck but it ended up being about 30 days.

I did a quick search of inventory in the Phoenix metro area. Doesn't matter the Brand, mid size trucks are in short supply.

I bet to a degree you are correct, since most regions are going to differ depending on the incentives and lease deals available within those regions. Other differences, too. Adding to the interesting nature of all of this, and to highlight your point that there must be variance by region, I’ve been actively checking inventory numbers for a 500 mile radius around my zip code in East Central Texas, and the numbers of both Tacomas and Tundras has been steadily dropping for months. I guess not surprising considering Texas is a hotbed for all manner of truck sales.

I'm glad I was able to pick up mine in the beginning of July. They only had two available at the Dealership. One SR5 in cement and the one I picked up.

Toyota Sequioa should also be on the list. I'm looking to buy one but they only have 4 listed within 100 miles of me and they are all Pro model.

Sequoia is probably always in short supply because i dont think they sell all that many, cant even recall the last time my local dealer even had one.

Yikes, I bet everyone's gonna get them as used now since the demand is so high. Flow Toyota of Statesville is selling new SR5's for like $45k right now (only 6 in stock). The very odd thing about it is they are actually selling their TRD Sport trims for less than the SR5s MSRP at the moment o_O

All N American plants are back up to full capacity and have been for a while now. But 8 weeks of zero production has left a large hole in the chain. Even with Covid, sales were stronger than Toyota anticipated. So that made the gap even bigger than projected.

Field inventory levels are starting to move in a positive direction with some models. Just gonna take some time.
