most people use portable compressors because they are inexpensive and small enough to mount anywhere or fit easily in any tool box. mine takes about 10 minutes to pump each tire from 20 psi to 40 psi. I was fine with my lil air compressor til i ran with a group of guys where most of them had oxygen tanks. they pumped up each tire in like 10 seconds...WOW i was impressed. i still have and use my lil compressor but im on the look out for a good used cheap oxy tank.

    I use the viair 400P.

Take advice to use any of the "cigarette lighter" compressors with a grain of salt. Most of those things simply don't have the capacity to move enough air to reinflate your aired-down off-road tires -- they'll overheat and you'll wait forever for them to cool down.

My compressor's pretty quick, but yeah, those air tanks are *fast.* I've watched other folks use em.

I just purchased the MV50's big brother, the MV90. Found a good deal here, I've got the product in the garage but haven't been able to get a chance for my own personal test. One of the guys in my club says it's a ton faster than his old MV50
