Just another day at the Auto Transport Service.
As long as we don’t pass the DOT, we’re fine.

    For shame--featuring a picture of a Chevy on a Tacoma forum. :)

A question--I was taught to cross the chains on a trailer to avoid problems in case the hitch failed. ...? Maybe this situation is different.

Crossing the chains is supposed to "catch" the trailer and prevent the front from digging into the road if the hitch fails.

Based on that photo, I think crossed chains wouldn't help a whole lot :D

It looks like someone bought a used Chevy truck from one of those "buy here, pay here" lots and got behind on payments. They put GPS tracking devices on those vehicles and send guys out with tow trucks to bring them back in when you get behind.

The tow truck on the right is equipped to be able to slide the bar under the drive wheels quickly, pick up the vehicle and be gone with it in seconds. They will get it a block or so away before taking time to strap them down. In this case there is too much overhang from the truck bed for that to work. I've never seen this technique used. But for a short distance would work. Probably not legal though.

But I'm betting this is what happened. If it were any other type of tow they would use a flat bed. But it takes too long for a flat bed operator to pick up one. This way they can greatly reduce the risk of confrontation with the vehicle owner.

I suppose that would be the case if there was a plate on the truck. Since it's not plated, I suspect the tow operator was just lazy

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
The tow truck already has a vehicle on the flatbed. You can see the bumper. The Silverado is a 2nd vehicle. Hard to tell by the pic and the shadow on the ground, but it almost looks like a dually.
