Sounds fun. I’ve got a Yosemite reservation otherwise I’d be up for it.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I just want to get out and be out of my garage for a day off lol.

And I want to just stretch her new legs a little, so all the rear end work is at least a little tested before we take off towards Colorado.

    Repost from my Insta

Have to say... Pretty damn disappointed in Fox right now. (yes, this will be a bit of a rant)

In early June I was deciding on which shocks to upgrade to. I was deciding between Fox or @adsracingshocks. I was told by my supplier that lead time for Fox would be 4 to 6 weeks, which was going to probably be less than what I had been told by ADS.

I received the rear shocks in 5 weeks... complete with a loose schrader valve and loose resi hose on the right (pictured) shock. Ended up fixing those myself because there is no time to send them back and wait. Shock mounts needed to be relocated, crossmember fabrication etc.

Now, today, 7 weeks after the shocks were ordered... I'm told the fronts wont be ready till the end of August... which will be a 12 week leadtime from order to delivery... DOUBLE what they told me to begin with.

So here I am... 1 and a half weeks away from a trip from California through Moab and on in to Colorado and back... and it appears I'll be rocking my spare set of Bilstein 5100s for the trip. I ordered these shocks nearly 9 weeks in advance of this trip... Am I being unreasonable to think this situation is completely ridiculous? These should be basically off the shelf OEM replacement reservoir coilovers... nothing "custom."

    It is what it is.

I knew going in the Fox is kind of shaky on leadtimes. I've heard stories about all of the major players in shocks... except ADS... I'm thinking more and more I should have been more patient, bit the bullet, and gone ADS.

ADS was my original choice... I shouldn't have let myself get talked out of it.

Last year I had a buddy that waited 4 months for his ADS set-up. After they quoted him 6 week lead time.

3 years ago I got my Kings in 5 weeks. After Filthy quoted me an 8 week lead time.

Lead times are just estimates. They can go either way.

Ya, I get it. But after the whole here's your $800 rear shocks complete with custom loose hose, loose schrader valve and no nitrogen... Doubling the lead time over the longer estimated lead time, just get's on my nerves a bit.

I get it. After my King bent shaft episode I'll never use them again. I'm sure Fox will be the same with you.

That said, I still have my Kings on my rig. I beat the shit out of them and they are a great shock. Just made by a dickwad company. #fuckking

Lmao... I definately know what you mean. The Fox shocks will be fine... once they ever get here. I am now, fully expecting to have to fix something on them when they get here though. I'm glad I was already planning on replacing the coils before install. (Fox wont ship them out with 700# coils) so I can inspect them without a coil load on them. (will be checking pressures before installing the 700#).

I'm sure they will be good shocks. But... unless there is a drastic change with Fox in the next couple years (probably wont be) I'll be running ADS if/when I go long travel.

I guess I should thank Fox Shocks shit quality control for giving me a reason to buy a new tool.

6112 & 5100 rear for everyday driver, mostly interest in an occasional dirt trail (6 times a year if I’m lucky) anyone running these? I highly doubt I’ll ever do anything more then beginner trail unless SHTF type situation.

Absolutely fine for what you describe. Bilstiens are more capable than many make them out to be.

Anything more expensive than the 6112/5100 would give you more comfort than capability.

gonna go out on a limb and guess getting just a front engine skid plate isn’t gonna be enough? If anyone wants a kidney I have one for sale.

I'd highly suggest a set of skids that go back past your transfer case (normally 3 piece)

There are quite a few fabricators that make them... you don't have to go with the local favorite. Especially if you don't plan on hammering on your truck.

I'd shop around and see if you can find a better price (but make sure you factor in shipping cost, it's a game changer when you're looking at heavy stuff like armor.

any shop you recommend? I was legit wanting to drive to So Cal for Cali Raised set of sliders. $487.49 set of bare bones weld ons. I figure I can coat them myself with some DIY Rustolium bed liner from Walmart.
