So I have a guy interested in trading me his Porsche 911 Turbo for my Taco. I've owned a lot of JDM cars as s2000, NSX, Supra, Type R, Lotus, Viper etc, but never a Porsche and don't know enough to compromise my beloved Taco!♥ Is there anyone who have owned this particular model Porsche that can provide me with some feedback.
The mileage on the Porsche is at 105,000 clean title according to the owner and he is asking $34500.

Broken yoke 996s? That is surprising.

They have the IMS issue also?

I have never used my truck for off road, hauling things nor have I put anything on the bed other than a 4k TV for my nephew, shut... I don't even know if my 4x4 works, LOL. I just LOVE darn Tacoma's.

    Like, so many.
Sounds like you could afford another one in the future if you wanted. Take the Porsche.

Haha ! Yes they are sweet trucks. Personally, I would not be able to survive without a pick up.

ehh the ims isn't a big issue, just gotta fix it before it grenades the motor

I've seen 996 turbos go for 70k+ so yeah ide say they are worth quite a bit.

    :D Stupid bearings.

Interesting. I knew a guy who was close to snagging a few different 996 Carreras for near 30k back in the early 2000s. He keep haggling over a k or two and never got one. I test drove a couple sweet 993s with him. I can totally understand their value situation for that generation.

Get it checked out by a specialist or dealer first. If it clears, hell yes trade for it.

Yeah. The 993 was battling for the top spot on my wishlist before the bike bug bit. Between the values skyrocketing and me getting older and slowing down a bit, I am settling back on a Miata to satisfy my handling dreams if I ever can get more garage space.

That's cool. Just considering the cost of the preventive IMS fix, a Turbo would be well worth it. Did they use a different engine? I remember some displacement dancing around that time. 3.6 versus 3.8?

I think at 105k it’s getting into high mileage range for that car and daily driving won’t do it any favors. Even if you work on the car yourself you will wait at least a week for a lot of parts. Otherwise beautiful car. I have an ‘07 Cayman S that is a blast to drive but I still have the Tacoma as well.

The other thing is that I have a certified master mechanic that specialized on JDM vehicles, he works by himself. I typically work on my own cars for the most part and he will take care of anything that I can't nor do I have the time to do. He probably don't know anything about Porsche. So, to find someone independently that works on Porsche may be difficult, b/c Im not getting a loan to maintain the Porsche at the stupid dealership either, LOL.
