Here is the thing, you can absolutely mod an SR5 to be better than a PRO for cheaper. But for some people, the convenience of just dropping down some extra cash to get all of the goodies that the PRO offers is where the value lies for them. The value lies in the convenience. For a lot of people, especially people on this forum, there isn't value in that convenience because half the fun of owning a Tacoma is modding it and making it your own. But if someone wants to spend the extra cash and get a sweet looking rig without a bunch of work, the value is there for them.

I paid $46k for mine delivered (aka keys in my pocket as I drive onto the road).

Yuuuup. Everyone online is like so rich I could like buy like ten Pros right now and then totally like have them just rot in my driveway next to my five Teslas that I use as bland lawn ornaments.

Bragging online about wealth is just weird. Lying about said wealth is just sad. Either way, no one knows you’re a cat online.

I paid $46500 plus 10% tax and $650 licensing here in Washington.

Love the truck. Just what I wanted. Better than an OR.

Suck it all you OR folks.

ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Just kidding about the suck it.

so one person paid 46k, and another $51,800. just trying to get an idea.

While i was trying to buy a base model 4x4, my wife pushed me into buying the fully loaded OR. I am happy to go with the fully loaded model, and in white.
Well i did want the manual transmission, but i remember how much better it was to have another driver in long road trips so i stuck with the auto.

like everyone else on this forum, i could have bought 10 of the PRO's lol but i knew in the long run once my warranty expires, its on!!! with the mods.

I was able to purchase my used 2019 Pro for a little under $42,000 from CarMax, before tax and registration. My experience was entirely not normal, and I got a great price. It's a long story consisting of many long nights trawling dealerships and car-buying sites, but the BLUF is that CarMax's car transporter totaled the original OR that I intended to purchase, resulting in them refunding and waiving the transit fee for any other vehicle in their inventory. This allowed me to widen my search a bit and I found this particular truck up in Maine (I'm in Washington), which I was really stoked to find at this price. Even better, the truck was advertised at 12,000 miles; when I picked it up, it had 11,052 miles on it.

When I was doing my research on this particular VIN (I registered it on Toyota.com to look at the maintenance history), I saw in the maintenance notes that the previous owner had repeatedly complained about poor transmission and slow acceleration. This tells me that the previous owner didn't know what they were buying, was pissed that the Pro's exhaust didn't add +500 torque, and moved onto something beefier. Their loss was my pretty sweet gain.

I've owned both an OR and a Sport previously. This time around (in the midst of COVID and supply chain disruptions/long lead times around the world), I liked the convenience of the pre-built Fox suspension and the fact that this particular truck already came with the Victory4x4 bed rack.

    Edit: Your experience may vary.
