You are running the lights off the relay? I think you need to tap the yellow (output) wire to terminal 85 or 86 of the relay. I think he mentions it somewhere that you should not directly run the yellow wire to the lights themselves. You should be using the DSIM to "power" the relay. Output of the relay (terminal 87) should be what is powering the rock lights.

The YELLOW wire should go to a relay [86]... Positive of your rock lights go to relay [87]. Check out his diagram:

In his video he states that you should fish the wire through the firewall and then to your lights. SO I should just tap it into the wire right off the CH4x4 switch instead is what it looks like

Hey guys. Sorry for the delay. Been busy playing catchup since I returned and I missed the initial discussion on this topic previously.

I just ran out and checked my setup and I have the same behavior. This is something I have not noticed before to be honest.

With my module installed, no dome light fade just on/off. With unplugged the fade is restored.

Give me some time to report back for a reason / fix if there is one. Gonna have to do some troubleshooting with this. Until then I would not worry about it.

    Hey Daniel... welcome back.

In your install video, it shows the dome lights fading in and out with your rock lights. Check out the 7:40 mark. Something must have changed since. Did you install anything else in the circuit?

The install part of the video is from the latest version where I switched to custom PCB to make the footprint smaller (and easier to manufacture).

The demo part of the video was actually old footage I had from v1 where I used a standard relay and did the wiring.

The core concept from v1 to v4 is the same. But I added some components (couple diodes and an internal fuse) that should have made no difference in that regard. This is gonna take some digging to get you guys an answer, bare with me. You gave me a lead with noticing the fade from the video however, gives me a place to start as I still have the old diagrams and prototypes.

and whomever else who wanted to know.

This is the solution. Diode on the ground (black) wire of the "main harness" pointing toward the black connector that plugs into the t-harness. The capacitor on board must be supplying ground and therefore deleting the fade on the dome light. On V1 I used to diode this wire, but shifted away from it once I went plug n play as it was less of a concern of someone hooking it up incorrectly. Which is why the V1 video you notice the fade :). I tell you as long as I have been making this mod I have never noticed this lol. Great eye to whoever caught this first.

The two diodes on the board protect against two things mainly. Back-feed into the module from the output wire, and preventing people from reversing polarity (+ to - and - to +) by mistake and blowing up the capacitor (learned that one the hard way). Later on Ill add a third for this. For now temp fix for retaining dome fade is below, just confirmed it on my rig. And I hope it goes without saying but make sure you shrink or tape the wires after adding the diode inline.

Thanx @DSIM - as long as there is no issue with the module as it is I am good (for now) with no fade domes. Just wanted to be sure I didn't do something wrong in my installation that could damage anything OEM.

ps your image is not loading

I am wiring this with no switch.
From what I gather, the following:
    30: to + battery (fused)
85: to - battery (or ground?) and to - lights
    86: yellow in
    87: lights + out

    thanks for the input.

85 should be to GND... same as the ground for your lights. The rest look good. Let us know how it goes!

How do you wire this with an sPod?
    Is an extra relay required?
