Agreed. I had a hell of a time with mine. Took a lot of work. Tried bending to no avail. Had to cut into the pinch weld for the inner fender well to get one out.

I’m wouldn’t say comically simple. Swapping the coilovers, sure, pretty easy. UCA, less so. Mine were a bitch. As I recall it took me most of a day to swap my front suspension first time I tried. There’s always something that takes longer than you want.

I thought I read where some guys have loosened up the whole fender to sneak them out. I was worried about this with the 4runner, but they just barely slide out without hitting anything.

The problem is the bolts are put in before the cab goes on, the bolt head is toward the firewall and the nut is on the rad side.

I was convinced mine would come out if I bent a little more. But I actually ended up snipping a piece of the pinch weld out instead. Then sheared off one small corner of the head of the UCA bolt With my grinder to help it fit better.

Hell they were hard to get out last week when I swapped my UCA uniballs, even though I’d already done it once.

Most of the guys on here buy new and cut the old in the middle.

Aha. I think mine slid out towards the radiator. Toyota is usually decent about making things easy to work on, so this seems weird. I wonder why they didn't think if it.

    Geez! Sounds like a project!

When all else fails, get the grinder out! Or the sawzall..

I was able to get the driver's side bolt out with bending just a tiny bit. Passenger side I cut out. And yes I did put it back in backwards. I use Nylock nuts. I just checked then last week when I did tire rotation and grease job and oil change.
    Still tight after 5k miles.

I don't know my toyota did this, I've read that most guys put the new ones in from the front.
And haven't heard of any problems from doing it.

I'm happy to hear that too. I was a little uncertain but figured if ERX and Lena happened then Crandon would too.

I might have to come check it out again this year. We stopped in for a bit last year. I got a huge kick out of watching those drivers go from being airborne to drifting around a turn throwing dirt everywhere. It looks SO fun!

Crandon is my "hometown track" so it holds a special spot in my heart, but truth be told, I enjoy watching ERX better. Went my first time this year and it's a great track with great concessions. Regardless of what track you go to short course off road is great stuff.

That's why I've gone every year since '83,
only missed like 3 or 4 times.

Ha! There's probably a dozen Black Lakes in Wisconsin. I took a guess.:D

    That's an area I haven't explored much.
