    Hey all,

I’m sure you’ve noticed that when you turn off your truck, the radio shuts off immediately. This is the first vehicle I’ve owned where the radio didn’t stay on after turning off vehicle until the doors are opened.

Is there anything I can do to fix that? I assume it would be pretty hard to make it stay on until doors are open.

Only way I know is to put it in neutral, set parking brake, and turn ignition off. The radio will still be on, and you can start the truck back up and go, or shift to park and get out.

Lol you mean like just let the truck idle until I’m ready to get out?

Whatever works. I tend to not let such trivial little things bother me. I would rather the a/c stay cold until I open the door personally.

That reply was to Texas T, not to TacoMamba35.
But yeah I get that, which is what I will have to do if there isn’t a more permanent solution

Hahaha we don’t all live in Texas I only need the A/C for about 3-4 months of the year. Just figured it is extra wear and tear, extra gas, harder on environment etc.

Edit: was just wondering if anyone has done some rewiring to make this happen

Some trucks still come with a key. Glad I don't have to put in cheat codes when I want to listen to the radio when the car is off.

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is running the radio remote wire to a fuse that is connected to something that goes off when you open your doors, maybe headlights or something like that. I believe you can run 2 remote wires so if you turn your lights off it will still work as usual but when ignition is off and lights on it would also work. Would be much easier to do with an aftermarket radio. Just kind of brainstorming and trying to actually help and not just be a smart ass.

I think OP wants to shut truck off in park and the radio be on until the door opens?

Correct. Park the truck --> shift from D to N --> press start/stop --> shift to P. Radio stays on when you open the door.

So I guess the idea is you want to be able to turn off the truck, but continue listening to some song or radio-talk until you actually exit the truck. When I'm faced with at want, I just shift to N and hit the start/stop button which turns the engine off but leaves the power on.

I'm glad Tacoma's turn off the radio when you turn off the truck. This is the one feature I hate the most in my Audi, when I turn off my engine I don't want the radio to stay on. I could just keep it in the "ACC" setting if I wanted this.

Just thinking how this could work. Seems like you would need a time delay relay to the radio and connect it to the door switch circuit. This would allow the radio to be on for a short amount of time after you turn off the engine. Radio would stay on until the door is open or times out so it doesn't kill the battery.
