Dasaita Head Unit for 2nd Gen Tacoma

Yes, there are left over plugs because it's universal for all 2nd gen Tacomas. (OEM stereo bone stock versus JBL). But some required a canbus/harness too. Depends on your situation

Yeah I need the CANBUS because I have the JBL. I also got the Seicane rear camera module.... Just waiting to install everything.

 

ive read thru this thread multiple times. Yes, it does mention that JBL users need a canbus (i got that). there is no detail of where said CANBUS can be purchased from. One person said they got a hold of Iris (whoever that is...). NOT ALL THE INFO IS IN THIS THREAD (then again im blind.....)....i've message the seller of of where i got the radio from (Amazon), and also contacted the company. no response in both instances.

i continued my research and i am trying this out:

Well I'm sorry to hear that, I bought my from ebay. Unfortunately I'm not customer service lol. Good luck on your canbus journey.

 

Iris is the one who sells the Dasaita head unit on Ebay. She usually asks if you have the JBL and will recommend the CANBUS harness before purchase. That's how it was with me, just too bad mine showed up defective.

 

so i got mine.. but some connections arnt matching up.. im guessing i need some adapter? any links or info on those? my truck is a 2012 non jbl.. idk if i have to do something with those key wires or not? one main big connection has no plug for on stock harness.. maybe im doing something wrong.. not sure? going to comb through this thread now.. sux waiting 12 days for this and not be able to hook it up lol

 

Everything that I read from this thread indicated that some plugs were going to be left unused. Did you try to power it on and see if the HU worked with the connections you have currently?

 

ya i turned the truck on and nothing happened.. i could be doing something wrong to havent messed with stereo stuff before.. the last picture, the plug in my left hand with the barcode.. that one didnt have a matching plug

 

Strange. The back of your HU looks different from mine. Maybe it's a different model.

The harness with the black connector that connects to the HU with a fuse by the port, I believe is the main harness connector. Connecting that alone should at least power up the HU.

Did you have an aftermarket headunit before you bought this new one?

 

thats what i thought to.. but there is one other big plug on that black plugs harness that doesnt have a match.. idk if that has something to do with it or not.. gonna have to mess with it again and see

 

hell if know lol.. i think its the door speakers.. i sold this truck a year ago and just bought it back a few weeks ago.. he had some subs in it and got new door speakers.. only thing i can think of

Well to me it looks like someone redid your OEM Stereo harness during the time you didn't own it. Probably for an amplifier. You said your headunit isn't turning on and you feel you are missing a few connectors? That might be why. If you can't figure it out, ask the previous owner what the hell they did or I would head to a Stereo shop and ask for their opinion.

 

I’m totally going out on a limb here but is the yellow wire circled on top capped off? It should be your acc wire from your key. To turn it on you should have a red, black and yellow for sure hooked together at the plug. It’s really hard to tell what’s going on in that rats nest. Turn your key on and check that wire for power.

 

It almost looks like the "previous" owner cut the harness, took out the aftermarket HU he had and capped off the wires....

I ordered my Dasaita off Amazon and was contacted by their support people to confirm it is the right one for my vehicle (non-JBL 2014 Tacoma). I sent them the info they requested (year, model, picture of HU, and HU info) and support got back with me to confirm we are ordering to right HU and they would be sending the correct canbus (my rear view camera diplays in my HU, not mirror and no front view camera).

 

i talked to the dude that i sold the truck to and all he did was splice into the stock speaker harness plugs... didnt remove any plugs from the harness or mess with anything besides the door speakers.. i tried testing that yellow wire but to be honest im not the best with electrical so im not really sure how to test the wire for power... contacted the headunit seller to see if maybe i got the wrong harness or something... def bummed was really wanting to see the screen light up.. might have to give up and take it to a car audio place.. which id rather not have to do since it should be plug and play.. i feel like one of the power plugs on the radios harness is different then the one on the trucks harness but idk..

 

just got off the phone wit ha buddy that did stereos for a living.. he mentioned something about that yellow wire to.. said that we might need to splice it into a power source if its not getting power like mentioned above.. gonna take the truck to his house later today to see if we can figure this out..
