I would ask your pharmacist how stringent those temp requirements are. There is likely some sort of tolerance. How much is the question.

How much the efficacy of the drug loses after say one afternoon in a hot car is another question that should be asked.

Im pretty sure most people just toss a pen in their glove box / lunch box / bag and forget about it until they need it..

The vacuum sealed bottle idea is really good, or a small fridge like above. But still worth asking the pharmacist. At the end of the day it may be worth taking a small hit in potency as a trade off for very quick access to the pen..

While speaking to the doctor/pharmacist is absolutely recommended, here’s a quick read on an analysis of leaving epipens in a vehicle on a hot day -
    https://www.aaaai.org/about-aaaai/newsroom/news-releases/epipens-heat
    - hence the thread for safe storage solutions.

Even a weak epipen is better than no epipen. It’s definitely better to keep them within the recommended temperature range and if a hydro flask, insulated case, or a cheap temperature controlled fridge can be an option and still quick easy access it’s a good idea.

I pack epi for work in *less than ideal* conditions. It holds up just fine outside of controlled conditions.

Not sure which part of the epi pen has an issue with weather. We carry epinephrine on the ambulance in all sort of conditions from hot to feeezing and it’s always stored in a fabric jump bag.

If you're using an EpiPen or their authorized generic, look into the FDA's Warning Letter to Meridian Medical Technologies (the manufacturer of EpiPen brand and their authorized generic). You might want to look for another epinephrine autoinjector. Meridian Medical is a company owned by Pfizer, which has a contract with Mylan to distribute the pens. Meridian has been under a Warning Letter from the FDA for a long time for serious manufacturing issues. https://www.fda.gov/inspections-com...chnologies-inc-pfizer-company-525881-09052017

Thank you for that! I’ll look into this.

We’ve switched to Auvi-Q which has better temperature control over the medication.

You bet. I've been working in pharma for over 20 years. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of this industry.
