Well guys! I am hoping to have more time freed up soon to finish my truck. My health is a lot better now since I recovered. I've been slammed back into 6 days a week 12 hours a day at my warehouse doing the best i can to support it.

I had applied to the Local 12 as a heavy machinery mechanic apprenticeship a couple years ago. Never got called- I was just too far down the list somehow. Crazy enough, because of covid, they're not doing new sign ups. They're just working further down their list. I got the best phone call I think I have ever had asking if I was still interested. So it looks like I am moving on to something I genuinely love, waay less stress, and at least for now some more free time. I am beyond stoked!!! I am hoping this will be a long term career.

Just as thrilled to finally have some time on the weekends now to work on my truck. I've been looking out the window at my truck every day bummed out that there isn't any time to work on it. Hopefully that'll change soon.

Okay... Okay... I'm back. Going to start working on the truck now! Spontaneously decided to convert my dirt bike to dual sport/kind of Supermoto-ish depending on the wheel set. Got her all set up with turn signals, lights, horn, and digital gauge. License plate won't arrive till a couple months though as I need to push the paperwork though. Was a fun little project!

I was reading into that, was it pretty straight forward? Did you have to get a po box over there?

My best bud just had his plate come in and he got insurance through Geico. What it is...I know it sounds weird...but you send this company a photo copy of your "off road" pink slip, social security card, as well as some forms you purchase from them which must be notarized, then you mail it back to them. My friend got his "South Dakota" registration with his California address on it. I have no idea how it works. But it works somehow hahah!

The perk of this is the fact that you can now connect trails. You can ride from Silverwood lake through the trails all the way to Crab Flats, jump off to get gas, then jump back to the trail. Same for riding in Big Bear. Lot of trails you need a plate for. But the perk of this is you can still keep your OHV status where sometimes "off road only" vehicles are permitted.

    It's a Win-Win-Win in my books!

Huh interesting. trying to convince a friend to do this instead of selling his dirt bike and buying a dual sport

Need to pre heat for these welds to burn in properly, but booger tacked for right now. Will also be rounding off the top part of the bump stop mount and reinforcing it on the back side/gusset to the frame.

Little bummed with my travel numbers. Looks like the springs only bring in just about 12 inches of travel from full bump to full droop. Good enough for me though. Got more shock than I need at 16", but couldn't pass up the deal and made it way easier to have some room to play when welding in the hoops and not worrying about bottoming out on the shocks.

Forgot to post pic of the bed. Just have the sleeves sitting in those hoops. Nothing is welded yet. This was just for fitment testing. But-- it gives you guys an idea of how space is. I'm going to be doing a small bed cage around the peremeter against the cab and also double sheer mount for the shocks. Also I'll be cleaning up the cuts and adding a nice fitting plate over them to make it look real clean. Bed will be done up in roll on bed liner when done.

Why are you running 16s with a SOA setup? there is no way you'll come close to using all that shock.

Or are you going to switch to a real SUA setup soon? Id do that right now if I were you. You could pull closer to 18'' with a SUA.

I'm using them because I found them for a pretty good price used. Definitely not using all the shock... Have thought about spring under, but then I'm going to have to purchase another leaf pack at this point and then most likely the 12 TC shackles. I'm just going to run what I have. I know there is always a want for more, but I think this'll do fine for me.

Guys- after really thinking about what Monte said, I am going to go spring under.

What I have in mind for the limits of my truck are the stock hubs and *soon chromoly* axles. This isn't trophy truck stuff and never will be on that level. So that's why I didn't want to get too crazy. But even in the slower stuff, I know the spring under will offer more travel and will most likely assist with articulation as well in some aspect given that I'll be getting several more inches of travel.

I would like to use my 9" shackles where they're at and see if I can just find a leaf pack that'll "plug in" to the factory location.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a heavy duty leaf pack that is half decent all around for a truck with a shell and swing out bumper?
Pretty much the equivalent of the All Pro Expo Pack, but spring under.

Guys, I'm an waaay beyond thrilled with how the new job has been going!

Anyhow, I'm jumping back on the truck finally again.

I thought about it, and obviously a spring under pack would be far more ideal...but I'm so over it and just going to run what I got.

That being said.... BOOM! May not be the prettiest or cleanest job, but it'll work and hold!

I don't know how much droop you really need but this is all pro expos with a leaf pulled, stock mounts SOA, 1"longer shackle and bilstein 7100 14" short bodies (16" travel). Those are 37s for reference. I don't know how much more useable droop you would really even get SUA and IFS especially if you are not doing high speed stuff.

That looks like some pretty noodly flex and is exciting to see. I think I'll be pretty satisfied with this setup, especially seeing what you're putting it through!

Got the mudflaps all finished up. Just tacked to the frame for now. They'll be setup just like the big trucks with a pin that holds them into a retainer, which I'll have attached to the frame and can pull these off in moments before hitting the trail.

Throughout the week I plan on greasing all the rear bushings and getting all the accessories hooked back up like the air compressor and getting wiring all cleaned up. Next weekend I plan on the coil bucket gussets and cam tab gussets up front. Should pretty much be ready for a first test run after that! As of right now it drives fine on the street and feels kind of bottomless like a dirt bike when you just get on it, for those of you that know the feeling. Kind of neat. I am stoked! Cannot wait to see how this does in the dirt.
