    Lots--
So I decided I wanted to give my new taco a better sounding exhaust-- Not just from adding cold air (which I already added and removed-- I didn't like the way it sounded at high rpm) but from adding something that will give me more clearance behind the wheels as well as adding some HP, and of course a better sound. **I'll post about the cold air intake and why I didn't like it later...

My overall thoughts are that I like it but i don't love it. I'm super super picky. So in the end I will probably swap the muffler for something that tones it down a bit and is less of a straight pipe. That I will do later and I am definitely open to suggestions for a good 3" in/out muffler. The 3" system is wider and the down turn is really what I was after. I've got the stock exhaust hanging in my shed now. I case I ever change my mind. Let me say, working on a brand new truck is the best. Nothing stuck, super clean. :taco:

I'll add a video clip of the sound maybe but you can get a better comparison clip here from ExtremeTerrain

Anyways enough chatter-- here are some pics of the install:

Not sure if that helps but i have the borla catback system and it sounds great. Not too loud and not too quiet. No drone at hwy whatsoever. MBRP are known to be loud and raspy. There is one taco with dual MBRP in my area and damn its loud even at low rpms.

Ah yes, the exhaust, otherwise known as the 'gateway mod' in my neck of the woods. :D

I had the 3" MBRP (not the turn down) and while it sounded great outside the tuck, the interior drone was madness, even with the whole back seat area covered with dynamat.
Couple that with the CAI I got a few months afterwards and the OVTune catless dump tubes and it was crazy loud outside the truck. Crazy loud for a tacoma, anyway, relatively speaking.
Other than the interior drone I really liked it.
I since went with a Gibson 2.5" catback.
Still get nice sound with much less interior drone.

And yeah, working on a clean, new truck is a truly wonderful experience!

Congrats on the new exhaust and be ready for the next installment before your truck gets the inescapable road grime on there!

I looked at Borla mufflers-- I could make a 3" in and 3" out work with this setup probably. Would sound better I'm sure.

I removed the cold air-- I put that on first then this. It was too much up front. I did add a throttle controller which gets rid of the pedal delay issue also.

Aftermarket intake was too loud? Just curious, which one did you get? You know the stock airbox is cold air intake right.

Also which throttle controller did you get?

I had k&n ram air on my ranger and it sounded beautiful. What exactly didnt you like about it?

Never seen this kind of throttle booster. Just FYI, some guys report check engine light and the truck goes into limp mode after a few months of using it. I kind of want to try one but just not sure about them yet.

I read that too but some people reported no issue--- I can always unplug it. It's super easy to install-- Mine is totally hidden I adjust before I drive or just use the stock setting it comes with-- still a big improvement. No check engine lights here. Way less sensors with my truck due to the MT... lollll fingers crossed. Wasn't as expensive as the others.

So you’re gonna hack up the exhaust before you even test out your new Off Road, off road? How do you even know if your 4Lo, MTS and/or crawl control even works yet?

Hack up?? not sure why you think a bolt on upgrade that is a 20 minute install is hacking up anything. And regarding the 4Lo, MTS and or crawl control. Of course I bought this truck for this too--- It's brand new and will get used however I want. It's my truck. Thanks for being so cool though. Appreciate it

Just recently threw one of these on mine for the exact same reason - Turn down exhaust. Still getting used to the sound going uphill on a grade. Once you're cruising on the highway, it's fine, but the second the truck downshifts, it hits the key of "Doom metal B" and if you have tunes going, it's hard to tell where the song starts and the exhaust sound ends. ( 2000 - 2500 rpm )

Verdict is still out if I'm going to add some sort of dampener to it.

Congrats on the new truck, and new pipe!
