That's one of them stick on solar panel flexible things? Interested to hear if you notice a difference in power on that compared to your old panel.

yeah is a Renogy 100w flexible panel that i added VHB tape so it would adhere to the roof. My old panel was 100w as well. So far its done well but i have so much roof real estate i may snag another just to have up there.

How do you like that RTT? I'm in the process of designing/building my own wedge camper and I really like how those freespirit tents fold sideways instead of a GFC...it looks like a lot more headroom inside and only marginally less space than a full-fold (traditional style) RTT. Plus, load carrying on top!

How do you feel the solar panel does on top of the tent? Obviously it's less effective when the tent is open, but its way out of the way.

So far i really like it. I love that its real thin at 7" closed and insanely easy to set up. I have a lot of space inside to sit up, kneel/change, whatever really. My main thought process when i got this tent was thin, easy set up and a good wind block without parts that will flap in heavy wind. This tent definitely accomplishes that. I also really like that the tent is 270° of vision with the really big windows and large entry door so ventilation is a big thing.

I have the load bars for up top but not sure yet if i want to put them on mainly because i got this to be thin and that adds more height. But i do like that i can carry weight on top or items if i choose to.

The solar works great, My driveway is in the sun 90% of the day so it soaks it all up while at home, when its open i try to aim it to the sun if possible but thats not always possible.

The mattress is something to be desired, its stiff. Very stiff. I pulled the mattress out and unzipped the mattress pad cover and pulled out the 1" of foam over top the hard base foam and replaced it with a 2" mattress topper on top of the hard base foam and the pad allowed it to zip back just fine. It is a LARGE improvement in comfortability. I also changed the way the ladder attaches to the tent. From FSR it just loops over the frame edge by the door. When the door and screen are zipped up tight this can put pressure on both the door and screen when climbing up/down the ladder and i saw that as a wear item and made a change. I contacted CVT and got their tent ladder mounts and added them to my extrusion sides, using the FSR ladder still works and keeps the ladder hooks away from the fabric.

you can see where the ladder would normally sit just inside the frame up against the zipper.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah, I really like that design. I have a CVT that has been fine, but I really would prefer an enclosed system for camping in more seasons around here. I'm leaning towards this style (side-folding) more than the wedge camper because I really like having visibility up top to see the stars/skies if I can.

That's a good solution with the ladder...I can see how that could cause some stress/damage long-term otherwise.

How much for those? It would make more sense than a regular RTT if I could fit it on the back of a 6' bed.

i was looking at the CVT clamshell style but im stupid tall and need every inch of space i can get and the clamshell really creates a loss of space at the nose pivot point. Because the way this tent opens i have the full floor wall to wall of usable space. This is also the 55" model so i can bring the wife with me and sleep comfortably.

Yeah, that angled extruded alum framing is awesome for cheating some extra space.. I'm probably going to be using standard 80/20...but I could probably machine some custom end pieces to make an angle like that. It would be neat.
