I want to run this "trail" in October. Has anyone done the scenic route, starting in Fredericksburg? Looking on google earth, I don't see an actual trailhead anywhere. I have questions, but I'll wait to see if anyone else is familiar with this route.

You need to visit the Austin, San Antonio, and Texas Toyota Coalition threads. There are often group runs with tried and true routes.

Outstanding! I'll keep an eye out. It's a ~4 hour drive from my place, so I want to do as much research as I can.

Nice. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Will post pics either late Sunday or on Monday based on the route we took. We have been debating on which one to take or just do a mix of them. A few of us have them loaded into our map programs, and we are only doing a day drive.

I've read different "trip reports". Some people do it in 2 days, and some in 4. I'm guessing it's just like the Mojave Road- how many days it takes, depends on how slow you drive.

There’s no trail head it starts of as asphalt then you get to dirt. There is a mix though of asphalt and dirt.

Maaaaaaaaaaan.....I was hoping it would be mostly dirt. I've never driven it, so it's hard to "prerun" on google earth.

Looks like this is going to be an after work venture. I can only find 2 MVUM for Texas, but the page says two is not the answer. Drats.

I wish. My gf and I are going to make a trip out of it in November. Take like 3 or 4 days to do it.

We did this route starting from Fredricksburg last month, its very scenic and pretty easy dirt roads most of the way. You will have a great time!
