I really dislike anything to do with paint, so I totally get that.

Unfortunately, I have to just break down and address the flares, but also the paint itself, because I have more than a few spots that had grinder dust sitting on the paint which then rusted after it was hit with some rain. On top of that, there’s more than a little overspray on the cab paint too from painting the frame after reinforcing it and doing my shock relocation.

Hopefully hitting it with a clay bar will help, because that’s about as far as I’m willing to go with it :p

    Thanks, Carter!

Life is good here! Just still getting the new place dialed in, but it’s been great so far. Not a day goes by without one of us saying how lucky we are.

Looks like you guys made a huge upgrade with your move too. Can’t wait to see what you do with that monster of a shop!

    Pole Hill Road

Yesterday afternoon, my lady and I took trip up one of our favorite trails outside of Estes Park. Pole Hill is not a hard trail by any stretch, due to the abundance of bypasses around all of the rough stretches. That makes it fun because you know that you can always back up and go around if you feel the need.

With that in mind, we took on the hardest lines we could the whole way up and back down and we had a blast! There was only one spot that I had to back up a bit, adjust my line, and engage the rear locker. On the first attempt, I didn’t have the best view because we were heading uphill, and I ended up lined up where the front tires both dropped between two big rocks. I hate bouncing and the potential for breakage that comes with it, so I just backed up and hit it at a better angle. Other than that, I literally just idled up and down everything with a big ol’ shit-eating grin on my face :D

The thing that I really love about Pole Hill is the scenery, though. With views of the kind of rock formations that have now become my favorite feature of the foothills around the Front Range, some incredible views down into Estes Park, and finally some great shots of Mt. Meeker and Longs Peak, it’s really hard to NOT find something to feast your eyes on  (If you zoom in on Longs Peak in one of the last three pics, you can easily see The Notch just to the left of the Diamond Face and the summit).

All in all, it was a great trail run at the perfect time of day, with perfect weather. Doesn’t get much better than that!

    Great post.

Can’t wait to have a normal sized garage.

    Thanks, man!

And yeah, the shop has been amazing. Coming from an attached 50’s vintage single garage to this has been a huge upgrade, for sure!

When are you pulling the trigger on yours?

I have stamped plans and one quote. Just waiting in the second guy’s quote before pulling the trigger.

Will probably go to the city next week with the plans...

Here’s hoping that working with the city of Boulder isn’t as horrible as everyone likes to make it out to be.

Im in Boulder county. Don’t have to deal with the city. Heard they’re brutal to work with.

    That’s good.

I had some misgivings about buying in Boulder County, but since anything that requires permitting has already been done, we weren’t too concerned about it. The fact that we’re within 30 minutes of a handful of awesome canyons and trails makes it totally worth it for us. I have zero desire to live out in the flatland suburban sprawl.

    You're in Longmont, correct?

The Mrs. and I are looking in Loveland currently. Seems like the most bang for your buck when it comes to square footage / acreage. Plus I'm alright with blending into the senior citizen community.

Yep, we’re in Longmont over on the west side and we love it. But we were seriously looking into Loveland as well. It’s another great town that’s not too crazy like Boulder or FoCo, but you’re still close enough to enjoy what those places have to offer.

Good luck with your search, and let me know if you ever want to go wheeling!

I'll definitely be in touch to wheel with you / others again soon enough! I desperately need to regear the Tundra before I get off any established forest service roads, and unfortunately I don't see that happening until mid-late September once I get through the first couple weeks of archery season (or later if I end up having tough luck early into it).

    Thanks, Mike!

Life has been a crazy roller coaster for a while now, but it’s been really good to get out at least a few times this season. I always want more, but I’m grateful for what I get.

Just doing some homework and research. Working on all the cab stuff now. Tubbing for 35's is on that list. Hope everything is going good bud!

    2020 can go get fucked.

This was taken within the hour from not that far to the west of us. Mandatory evacuation orders already in effect for the western outskirts.
