2017 Tacoma acceptable rust?

Hey all
Looking to pull the trigger on this 2017 TRD sport. Just got some undercarriage photos from the dealer and wondering if you could tell me what you think of the amount of rust?

 

Not that different from mine, doesn't look bad at all in my opinion.

 

Looks like my AZ truck to be honest

 

That’s clean compared to trucks around my area. I’d be more concern about the oil stains at the bottom of the transfer case.

 

that looks great compared to some I've seen recently in the snow states....those trucks look 10+ yrs. old with all the rust.

That doesn’t look bad at all. Hell one winter here and that truck would look 5 years old after it’s first year.

 

Looks fine to me. Just hit the spots that look worse with fluid film....heck while your at do the whole chassis.

 

Looks great compared to my 2017. My 2017 in MI looks like it came painted brown from the factory

 

Just surface rust. No harm. The exhaust pipe will always rust no matter where you live.

 

There has been a recall on 2017 models for undercarriage rust. Supposedly if you have the dealership inspect it, they will determine if an anti-rust coating needs to go on or if the frame needs to be replaced all together. I certainly don't think your frame needs to be replaced. But it may be worth checking out about the coating, just to be safe.

 

Toyota just put out a recall for 2016 and 17 Tacoma’s with rust problems

I think potential owners hear "rust" freak out and look at every spot on each bolt. The Frame rails are where you need to concentrate your gaze
