The overheating was with the original version. They fixed something in the v2 and it shouldn't overheat anymore. At least I don't remember anyone reporting their v2 overheating since they were released.

You used to be able to get them directly on the Dongar site (that's where I ordered mine from), but it looks like that just goes to Amazon right now. Another place to watch though, maybe they'll put them back up there at some point for direct purchase.

you can order the mirror/dashcam adapter directly from Kevin @ Dongar Technologies, here's the link:

    https://www.dongartechnologies.com/product/12pin/

hit add to cart and you're good to go...

plus he sends you a shorty MicroUSB cable for free with your purchase.

I have one on the way. Great communications from Kevin, BTW. They'll be back on Amazon at some point, but I'm just as happy to order direct.

Now to search for a dashcam. The Garmin that someone suggested looks good and is very compact, but I'm going to continue looking for a while.

Can the camera connect directly to the app on a Smart Phone or do you always have to go through their servers? I'd prefer not to have to upload my videos to someone else's server.

Yes, the camera connects by bluetooth/wifi to your phone using the Garmin "Drive" app. The PC based Garmin "Express" utility only connects to the camera via a USB cable if you remove the camera from the vehicle. I actually wish the PC app would connect via bluetooth/wifi, because I have a computer in my front office that is easily within bluetooth distance of my driveway. I'd much rather use a computer display and keyboard to do what I want to do. That said, by far the fastest way to transfer a large segment of video from the camera is to pop out the micro-SD card and bring it inside.

i didn't measure it, but i'm guessing it's about 6". when you order the dongar adapter direct from dongar technologies, kevin throws the usb cable in for free...

Still liking your Q800 Pro dual dash cam? Any problems connecting to your phone app? I really want a hardwired dash cam that works in park mode and so far everyone who has the Garmin Mini with a park mode wire says they have overheating issues. If I'm going to hardwire a dash cam to the fuse box, I might as well get a model that comes with front and rear cams.
