Picked up one of these for the 4Runner. For anyone looking for a good battery deal, you can use the AUTO20 coupon to save 20% on online car battery orders right now, and then there's also a $20 mail in rebate for X2 batteries. So this 24F battery (a rebranded Northstar) was on the order of $227 (pls tax).

That code worked for me last week when I ordered my 27f. From the research I did the X2 and Northstar are the best batteries right now. Odessey was a close 2nd.

Been researching on here. The 27F will require a larger battery tray, longer J-bolt, and a tune. The tune is to allow the alternator to charge at a higher voltage (or amps, can’t remember). I think it’s still worth it for the 92ah capacity.

AGMs like this are great for solar. My solar set up is essentially two of these batteries, but from NorthStar. Works great.

Details of solar here: Infinite Free Power – Adding Solar to the Tacoma

Details of the batteries: dual battery system

From personal experience as I have a 27f in my 3rd gen the battery tray can just be pulled out or the 27f can just hang over a side. J bolts work just fine and dont need to be replaced. A tune is not needed for a 27f but the tune is the only way to send the proper voltage needed for an AGM since 3rd gens cant fix it with a fuse like 2nd gens. Another option over the tune is to hook it up to a battery tender to keep it topped off. Can also run solar to top it off. The battery tender/trickle charger is the best option for life of the battery.

Thanks for the info, this helps me make a decision. Also, how often should it be topped off?
