Ok CT Boyz... I am looking to install a new lift / suspension and curious to see if anyone has experience doing it and willing to help me out...

I asked a friend if I could use her driveway to work on my truck. I live in an apartment and working on your car is frowned upon.

Really wish I could lend a hand here. Because of covid and our infant, we have been distancing from others.

Ill be doing my lift myself the first week of sept. Really wish i could have a couple hands to help, but with the virus concerns, thats out od the picture.

 

Good morning all. Unfortunately, I can’t help with the lift right now. I’ve been nursing an injured back since early July and it still hasn’t cleared up. Get the coils pre-installed before you begin. Are you replacing the upper arms too? If so, place a 12” crescent wrench or slip joint pliers with a rag in the mouth on the sheet metal to bend it without scratching up the paint to get the bolt out. I had to cut the bottom bolt out in one shock as it was frozen to the shock bushing. I used a cutting wheel on my grinder. I disconnected the sway bar for more droop during installation too. For the rear, I installed a leaf in the pack and also had a frozen bolt by the gas tank. 2 or 3 big C clamps and you can add them with the spring in the truck. Overall, it’s not hard to do; just a lot of manual labor with some heavy lifting. Are you doing the ECGS bushing while you’re in there?

Any recommendations on a torque wrench that wont break the bank? Would anyone not go with Craftsman or Pittsburgh for any reason or another?

 

Rainy hello all. So much for getting things done before the rain coming in the afternoon....
(How much do weather people get paid to be so wrong so often?).

Started back up on the Taco Trailer project yesterday. Got a really simple step done that has been a major road block for me. Ever have that one step you just don't want to deal with that ends up being basically a non-event? Got that step done (some cutting), got the hardware on hand, being a princess though - not going to install the hardware until the rains stop.

 

I won't offer an opinion on brands (I'm fine with Cr or Pitt), but will encourage you to get something that clicks or beeps. Turns out there are a lot of uses where you can't see the reading, an audible is a big help often. ...and don't forget to set it to zero when done if it's one of those ones you set to your end-goal.

 

Took the Moto Guzzi out for a 125 mile motorcycle ride, no heat to deal with.
