Hey all, I just installed the Body Armor 4x4 Hi-Line winch bumper over the weekend.

One thing I didn't think about ahead of time was how to control the winch when I need it.

I'm looking for pictures and details around how people are either relocating the control pack or otherwise accessing the controller plug behind a winch bumper/grill.

For context, I have a Warn Zeon 10-S. I will be removing the grill soon when I receive my light bar for the bumper, when that happens I am hoping to wrap all of this up and be ready for whatever.

    Thanks!

Same bumper. Rugged Ridge 12k, synthetic rope. My control box is mounted on the left side of the winch. I bought the $35 wireless controller for motor control (I could use the wired controller, but again, I would have to open the hood to plug it in. I have to open the hood to engage/disengage the motor.

I've thought about getting th wireless remote for my winch but I'd rather save the money if I can.

Thanks for the reply, I actually discovered after making this post that with the hood popped, I can fairly easily reach the area where my winch controller plugs in.

Would be nice for easy exterior access, but I think I'll get by fine with the under hood access.

If it ever presents a problem I may go with the wireless controller.

I'm pretty sure most wireless controller's require you to leave it unplugged until use.....so.

Over the years I have moved many Winch Solenoids / Controls into the Cab.

It all depends just where you would like it and it works best for most of your recoveries.

I have a C4 Fab low pro bumper with a Warn Evo 10s. Here is my install video, you can skip to 2:58 for the control box mounting. My winch works either wired or wireless. The mounted position allows for easy access to the control box for a wired connection.

Also, here is the install of the Lambtek Innovations winch switch. Its a great product built by a member here.

I took the solenoid out of the giant box and bolted it to the fender up by the master cylinder in some factory threads there with a DIY bracket from a chunk of angle. I ran a piece of lawn sprinkler wire through the firewall for the controller socket. The solenoid is sealed (Warn). Painted liquid electrical tape on the controller wire connections.
