Can I drop 2018 yrs off road leaf springs in a 2017 sr5? If so does that lift the rear?

No. The suspension is the same
height on sr5, sport and offroad.

So a swap is no issue. Is the ride stiffer or no difference for, the TRD OR 4x4?

I believe leafs are the same, its the shocks that make the ride softer on the offroad.

Totally thought the Leafs were stiffer and added lift. Boy was I wrong. Thanks for the clarification.

The only thing you can't upgrade to be as good or better than the trds is the crawl control/terrain select system. IMO driving experience can compensate for the lack of those. I am always amazed at what the standard traction control can do about wheel spin even stopping a tire thats in the air. This thread has more info on that subject https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-traction-control-modes-explained.530695/. this video uses a crappy method to show how the traction control can stop wheel spin.https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-modes-explained.530695/page-17#post-21865360

I go everywhere the locked trucks go in my SR5. No issues here yet. I'll avoid doing crazy rock crawling - even though it's paid off, I don't what to wreck it. It works great on any trail I've tried.

In all honesty, my driving skill is more of a limiter than my lack of a locking differential.

There's lots in my build thread in my signature. Start about halfway down the page if you just want to see offroading, I have a lot of build pics. A few from that thread copied below...

If you plan to upgrade/mod go with the SR5. It's exactly what i did. SR5, Upgraded suspension and Upgraded to 5.29 gears and Harrop E lockers front and rear. Can engage my lockers whenever i want.

Were not off-roaders here, but you still see a ton of trd,s and sports....their owners think they are cooler. I've used my sr5's on the same crappy roads these other guys have with no problems. Imo, unless you used those other trims in more severe conditions the sr5 is more than capable enough.
