Yes. If you can, drive it with the gauge. I know its hard to find one that fits.

As many have stated - check the MAF sensor - clean with the CRC product designed for this. Also stated - it could be a lot of other things, but the MAF sensor douche with CRC is fast/easy and often times solves the problem.

Wasnt the MAF, but At least it got cleaned. The can says it could possibly restore lost HP and fuel economy. Very easy to remove. Very easy to clean with the MAF cleaner, just give it a power spray. One side of mine was pretty dirty. There are also sensors inside the casing.

Going to rent a fuel pressure kit from Autozone now...... fuel pressure before cranking is 44 psi, what About the running idle psi is?

I seem to recall having read somewhere that it's tricky getting a fuel pressure tester hooked up to the 4.0L engine. Maybe I'm all wet.
At any rate, it would be interesting to see what brand/model AZ rents you and if there were challenges getting it hooked up.

They said it comes with A gauge, along with various sized hoses and hose clamps. I assumed there is an easy access point under the hood... running/idle psi anyone?

There shouldn't be a change in PSI between running and idling that is what the fuel pressure regulator is for maintain consistent pressure.

Im trying to remember Guys.. if the fuel pump running was easily noticeable inside the truck. (With the ignition on). I used to think that it was when I listened for it, but eventually became oblivious to it. I cant hear it now so makes me think fuel pump even more.

my scan tool is saying OL on the fuel systems 1, 2.. no idea what it means

Hey guys, it was indeed the fuel pump. Pump for the yota is kinda pricey, around $350 or so. Thanks for all the input

So, did Autozone have a fuel pressure gauge with all the proper fittings?

I ended up taking it to a friend of mine and let him diagnose it.. he said he initially thought it was something electrical, Judging from the symptoms I had..

i will add that when I was younger with less Money, I was notorious for runnin my fuel tank on Empty. I’ve read that the gas helps keep the fuel pump cool.. so its better to run with half a tank or so at all times. It was a dumb habit that I have since gotten out of, but could have helped caused the failure!

    Thanks for the update.
I will advise you to use a quality pump.
You don’t want to do this again in less the 50k. Some where on here is a post about OEM and Equivalent pumps.
You may need to search the forum.

Or maybe @Torspd knows off the top of his head?

www.urdusa.com sells upgrade fuel pump kits which also moves the fuel filter outside of the tank. For ease of servicing. Should the need ever present itself in the future.

So I'm about to attempt to do a fuel pressure test and was just curious to know how to discharge the fuel system?
