    Hi Everyone,
Relatively new here to these forums, but I wanted to ask what the deal is with recon? Is this just for safety check, or to also prevent getting pulled over by the cops? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm from the Big Island so this whole recon thing is somewhat foreign to me. Planning to lift my truck eventually but wanted to know what I'm getting myself into with regards to the law lol.

I also tried looking on the C&C website to schedule an apointment and there's none available at all. Whatsup with that?

It’s definitely needed for a safety check. As for getting pulled over by the cop, I think it’s unlikely, but technically they can. If you get pulled over for some other reason they can add the recon violation to the ticket as well. Probably depends if the officer is having a bad day or not.

I'll also add that if you drive like a dick or driving around late at night or in some shady ass areas that no recon will be an excuse for a cop to pull you over to harass you. Cruising Waiks is also not recommended

Ok guys I will be getting my recon next month anything I should remove or change back to stock? Reason for going 3 inch lift stock wheels and tires.

-Led head lights and tails bulbs (will be putting stock halogens)
-Meso smoked mirror turn signals (will be put back to stock)
-Baja designs fog lights (will be put back to stock)
-Do I need mud flaps even if truck didn’t come with one for both front and rear?
-Tint strip on windshield, do I need to remove that?
-After market sound system. Reason why I put this is because you can see the power wire once the hood is lifted up.
-Alignment will be done 30 days prior to recon inspection.
-I also have leds in the license plate lights, will I need to put halogen bulbs back?

    Mahalo in advance

Shoot, since I have the meso stage 2 in the rear I might just swap that with stock. Since the smoked mirror turns has resistors to keep turn signals from hyper flashing . Now to look for some mudflaps.

The Baja designs still can pass even if no more sae stamp?

you might be fine if you leave ur smoked mirrors in but i guess its better to play it safe.

I had rigid floods on when i went thru recon, they don’t have sae on them. I put electric tape on my light bar lol.

FYSA, I passed just fine with my smoked MESO mirror turn signals. That being said, aren't some inspectors different? Maybe it is better to be safe than sorry.
