Finally got around to doing the fog light anytime mod. Don’t know why I waited so long but it was super easy!

 

Starting a big project: transferring the cheapo Amazon lights to the Land Cruiser and installing the baller stuff on the Tacoma. I’ve had this older Rigid Industries D-series driving beam pod on my shelf for a long time, so I decided to get a new matching one for the Tacoma. Boy, are they bright - even with the amber covers!!! I’m going to move the 20” amazon bar to the Land Cruiser, swap it with a nice one from SuperbrightLEDs that I’ve been told puts out really good light, and also finally install some of their flood beam pods on @RelentlessFabrication ditch brackets. The Land Cruiser is getting a pair of flood beam slim 7” or 8” bars (forgot which it was lol) from SuperbrightLEDs to go in the bumper openings and a rear dust light on a @ragofabrication antenna mount. Also finally rewired the Tacoma’s chase lights after getting my bed cage built

Thoughts behind the move: I realized that the cheap, not as bright lights, are going to be ok when moving slowly on trails in the Land Cruiser, but if I end up moving fast through the desert or dunes in the dark it’ll be better to have some high quality beams on the Tacoma.

 

Knocked out a small, long overdue project this morning - installing some @RelentlessFabrication hood hinge ditch light brackets and a pair of @superbrightleds flood beam LED pods. Super easy install, and I’m glad I finally found a little motivation to do it. I like where my lighting is now for the most part. I still need to open up the grooves/bolt mounts for the 20" light bar mount on my bumper so I can fit my new light bar there. Added last shot of the @superbrightleds flood pods only. The fenders block a bit of their light, so I’ll have to get some rock lights to illuminate down low.

Late to the party on these, but I snagged a steel tailgate skin from @BaywatchDV

I was hoping it’d fix my bowing tailgate, but it only did a little bit unfortunately (better than nothing lol). At least it’s way stronger now, so definitely happy with it.

 

Finally picked up a set of replacement headlight supports, as I lost one sometime along the way (probably during drunken fiberglass install lol). I also replaced my cheapo projector headlights with my old DEPO set because the projectors had a thick layer of dust inside (yes, inside) blocking the light, and the passenger projector was shaking loose (probably because no headlight support).

Gonna stick with these for now, because it really cleaned up the front end and allowed me to properly install the trim pieces under the headlights.

I do need a set of HIDs tho...after projectors with HIDs, LEDs in halogen reflectors don’t quite cut it lol. Probably gonna order a set of DDM Tuning HIDs after Christmas

 

Ive got some gifts for you in the spring.. if you want them. Could put them on the LC

 

Way late on this, but here's a small photo dump of our Mojave Road trip for my 30th birthday back in November. They're in no particular order and just some of the shots, but enjoy!

I also ordered some new lights for my bumper from Hotshot Off-Road's awesome sale that's going on. I got a pair of Diode Dynamics SS3 pods in the amber SAE driving configuration and a pair of SS2 pods in the amber SAE fog configuration. With my old school Pelfreybilt bumper, I'm going to have to add two tabs (one on each side) for the SS2 pods to mount to.

Next, gotta figure out a 20" light bar replacement. Looking at Baja Designs S8, KC HiLites C-Series, Lightforce "Nightfall", Rigid E-Series ($$$$$), or any other suggestions anyone has?

Interested in the two tab solution for the SAE fogs being that they need to be level. I just got the DD Stt. Maxx fogs, but my bruteforcefab hybrid does not have any level mounting points built in. Considering adding a L-bracket to the vertical central plated part, adding some custom milled wedges into the diagonal existing mounting points on the lower tubes to create a level location, or drilling through the upper tubes (less likely).

 

Yeah I haven’t completely thought it through yet, but I know my buddy will take care of it very well for me . It’s more than likely going to be a tab welded onto the tube similar to how the existing tabs are
