    Hello Taco community,

Figured it couldn't hurt to post, as there does seem some interest in the modification of the 2TRFE engine.

In deciding an upgrade could be worthwhile to a solid factory bottom end, my vehicle is currently with the local mechanic to carry out the following:

    Fitment of
Reconditioned/ported head with LCE stock valves-higher rated springs
    Stage 1 cams
    LCE Headers
    LCE Head bolts
    2in Intake Manifold spacer
Haltech 950 elite ECU, Wideband O2 sensor
    LCE Balance shaft removal kit
2.5in Exhaust system, minus the catalytic converters.
Timing chain/guides and other sundry items (water pump, front crank seal, idler pulley, drive belt

The mechanic/tuner has carried out a base dyno run, resulting in 110kw/148hp, and it will be re-run/tuned upon completion of the fit out, so will be content to post results once completed. Approximately 2-3weeks from this point.

The Haltech unit will process all fuelling and timing outputs/inputs, taking into account also the VVT of the intake cam.

And in realising that a naturally aspirated 2.7ltr with modifications will still be under the hp rating of the 4.0ltr V6 Hilux model, I decided to go down the route of modifying this vehicle due to it being a very tidy example that suits the current needs. Coupled to this, the above modifications will make way for a turbo in time what with having done all the ground work, should it come to that in the future.

Cheers to anyone that reads the above.
    Nathan:)

What exhaust system did you go with? I bought the power pipe from URD but still need the rest of the system.

    Hi Katryder1,

I went with a Mantra system which is an Australian company. As there is no sports system for the 2.7 here in Australia they decided a 2.5in system with a free flow muffler and a resonator. I had a 2.5in pipe made for where the cats would be after the headers.

I can provide muffler dimensions if you like.

Dynoed at 168hp. Am moving to stage 2 by September hopefully. Supercharged, lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch kit.

    Cheers,
    Nathan.
